What's Your Reaction?
Christie

TRENTON, N.J. — The Republican in New Jersey's race for governor wants the incumbent to weigh in more candidly about the challenger's heft.

Chris Christie says Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine should quit hinting at his weight with unflattering ads and "Man up and say I'm fat."

Christie also told radio personality Don Imus he'll be "a big, fat winner" on Election Day.

"I'm pretty fat," Christie deadpanned on Imus's New York-based radio show Thursday morning. Asked by Imus, he joked he weighed 550 pounds.

Christie, who won't say what he weighs, said he's helped keep Dunkin' Donuts employees working during the recession.

His weight became an issue in September when Corzine launched an ad accusing the former federal prosecutor of "throwing his weight around" to get out of traffic tickets.

Corzine is getting blamed for the mess of the economy the way Obama is. People are dumb. A family friend said she wasn't going to vote for him because she didn't understand why the schools had to be highly funded. In her logic, they should cut education, so that the property taxes could be lowered. Lets face it, NJ is just an expensive place to live, and if we want a better education system and higher quality-of-life than a poor Southern state, we will pay for it.

Corzine has been made responsible for everything wrong in NJ, because people do not understand business, politics or economics. However, we also have some of the best schools and quality of life. I don't think Corzine was prepared for the mess he stepped into, and I'm positive that Christie disrupting the flow isn't going to help. Just like Obama, it's going to take years to clean up the mess, as it took years for the mess to be created..

I'm just tired of listening to all of these fools embrace memes and myths rather than addressing the one huge fundamental issue as to why there are budget problems and high property taxes: our income tax rate is too low for what we expect the state to deliver. I simply cannot take any NJ gubernatorial candidate serious who talks about all the problems, but refuses to touch the fact that our income taxes need to be higher, all while they promise property tax rebates with absolutely no discussion of how they intend to pay for them. Corzine and Christie both get an F when it comes to this. Daggett gets a D.

Corzine may have come in to a mess, but I have no sympathy for him. He could have stayed in the Senate, which is what he was elected to do anyways. Upon quitting that job to get a more glamorous role as Governor, he has done a pretty poor job. The only thing that has prevented it from being an outright crushing defeat by Christie is the fact that so many people realize Christie is an empty suit that is making promises which he has no intention of delivering on, as he can't even show how his promises can be made a reality.

Somebody has to speak truth to power.

WHY are comment-policy-compliant posts getting blocked?

If there is a reasonable explanation, then I'm perfectly willing to accept it.

But WE are the customers her, and we are ENTITLED to an explanation.

Is what he has to offer pugnatious self-pitty as he side steps an accusation?
Has he nothing else to say about the tickets?
"Man Up"?? Did he make that up? Sounds juvenile, like something a kid would say to start a fight.
It must be some new slang from the sports channel.
The accusation he is fixing tickets through political influence doesnt bother him. He doesn't mention that al all. His lack of outrage over the acusation demonstrates guilt.
The other man is somehow a coward for using an old expression?
"Throwing one's weight around" has been used forever to describe the use and abuse of power.
What a sad candidate.
Reducing things to a personal level is a common techniqueas old as the phrase."Throwing ones' weigh around. "
I feel sorry for NJ if he gets elected. He sounds deceptive and petty. He sounds like a Junior High school kid.
Well, it is not unusual for the GOP to lower the bar on anything.
This helps the stupid vote Republican in spite of the fact they are voting against their own self-interest, the tactic works..
Without even knowing it, some dopes are even drawn to the idea that he wants a personal fight.
They like that attitude and care less about any abuse of the office.

Uh, Christie, you're obviously comfortable with your weight; nothing wrong there. But can you address the implication...you, like all Repugnicons, cannot be trusted in government.

Your appearance smacks of someone about to gorge on the States assets and funds. Be gone trolls.

NO Republicans in Jersey; at least not Slash-n-Spend Republicans...

And the GNOP got the nerve to talk about Dr. Regina Benjamin. Christie is a typical GNOP blaming his weight on Dunkin' Donuts.

This guy will be a great example for the people of New Jersey. My guess is that he is as greedy about everything as he is about food.

The funniest thing about this isn't his weight. What's really funny is how the GOP swears that healthcare reform will result in taking care of people who refuse to get insurance, when the red states are the states that cost us the most money in terms of poor health.

Come on guys, there has to be something more substantial to discuss days before a state level election with the situation the country is in...what is this kindergarden playground bantering?

I will tell you what is substantial, NJ, Mr. Chris Christie has just gone back on all his big promises except for one.... wait for it, here it comes, here it comes...... except cutting taxes for people that make over $400,000.00... Now, why does that not surprise me. This interview was in the Jersey Journal this very morning.... Read it an weep, all you silly Christie fans.
