Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network posted a blog by Kimberly Daniels recently that warns Christians to forgo celebrating Halloween because of its evilness. Daniels specifically calls out candy as a source of soul-molestation:

"During this period demons are assigned against those who participate in the rituals and festivities. These demons are automatically drawn to the fetishes that open doors for them to come into the lives of human beings. For example, most of the candy sold during this season has been dedicated and prayed over by witches."

Obviously, we shouldn't be buying Halloween candy, but what about getting it by trick-or-treating?

"Curses are sent through the tricks and treats of the innocent whether they get it by going door to door or by purchasing it from the local grocery store. The demons cannot tell the difference."

Darn.

We wholeheartedly agree with Daniels and have put together a handy guide of outrageously demonic candy to stay away from this (and every) season.

I have to wonder about a group of people claiming to worship a God who seriously sounds like he's wearing his underpants on his head.

What do we want? BRAINS! When do we want them? BRAINS!

It's only candy; chill out. So, according to these weird statements, we are controlled by demons because we bought some candy at a store during halloween? I reckon if one digs deep enough, they can find a devil under every rock. I am a Christian and I find this ridiculous.

According to this site and most of its readers, as a Christian, you BELIEVE what's contained in the post. Just for your information.

Please read my post before spouting; I do not agree that demons are chasing me because I bought some candy during halloween time...some of these paranoid fearmongerers need to realize that it is only candy. Is that how you envision Christians...that we prowl around every day looking for evil under every rock? Life is too short to live this way...stereotyping Christians or any other religion is a waste of quality time that could be spent doing something productive or encouraging someone or helping someone in need.

And herein lies the danger of faith. It is utterly incapable of distinguishing between the true and the false, the enlightened and the ignorant.

If, to get through the night, one needs to believe that recitation of certain words and performance of certain rituals will alter the course of events, well so be it.

I’d be a lot more convinced this stuff was valid if some practitioner would start winning the lottery every day or if all those appeals to the supernatural Powers-That-Be for world peace would kick in.

Candy is prayed over by witches? Hahahaha. I laughed at the sheer ridiculousness of this...but then again ridiculous people always make me laugh. Thanks for another pathetic moment in comedy.

Now if you'll excuse me, there is a nice chunk of Devil's Food cake waiting for me...

MUHAHAHAhahahaha....

Hey, they eat the flesh and drink the blood of their savior, so they claim. The Jewish people buy Kosher food ( food that is prayed over in a prescribed way according to their religion ) The fact that Roberson thinks Witches pray over candy only says that Roberson sees things through his own prism. Besides. I bought my candy early ;)

The link has gone south now, apparently even PAT ROBERTSON decided it was a little too over the top but I had questions that still linger, for Pat and his columnist Kimberly...

Are these witches FULL TIME employees of M&M/Mars Candy Corp or are the part timers?
Does the conveyer belt run through a special room where the witches pray over the candy or does M&M
just rope off part of the break room during Halloween week?
Do these witches get health care? Stock options?
What do they write on their W-2 forms?
Are they illegal aliens?

When I first read the headline, I thought it said, "Christian Broadcasting Network warns Against DEMOCRATIC Halloween Candy."

Of course, I was immediately in attack mode! These partisan attacks have gone too far, I thought to myself! And then I re-read the headline!

Never mind ...

As far as the "demonic" Halloween candy is concerned, I'm no longer surprised by ANYTHING the religious right says and does. Wasn't it just last week that I read that they want to rewrite the Bible to make it less liberal and more conservative??

They forgot "push pops". They advocate for children to be disrispectful to their fathers. Clearly in disregard for the 10 commandments.

Yup. Critically reported by two Christians--Catholic Lawrence O'Donnell and Rev. Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Sep. of Church and State.

When believers speak sense, they're ignored. When they speak Satanic influence, they get tons of free publicity from the "liberal" blogosphere.

What else is new?
