Lou Dobbs: Gunshots Fired At Me, My Wife, My House

WANTAGE, N.J. — (Associated Press) Police in New Jersey are trying to determine who fired a bullet that struck CNN commentator Lou Dobbs' home as his wife stood nearby.

State police Sgt. Stephen Jones says Dobbs' wife and driver were outside the home Oct. 5 when they heard the gunshot. Jones says the bullet didn't penetrate the siding and fell to the ground outside.

Dobbs mentioned the bullet earlier this week on CNN and his radio show.

Dobbs says he had been receiving threatening phone calls for weeks. On his radio show, he connected the gunshot to his advocacy for a crackdown on illegal immigration and to his opponents' rhetoric.

The home is on a farm in Wantage, about 50 miles northwest of New York City.

It is small-game hunting season, but no hunters were seen in the area.

WANTAGE, N.J. – During a hastily convened press conference late last night, an emotional Lou Dobbs stood on his front lawn and excoriated the practice of using imported firearms and ammunition­.

Less than an hour earlier, a preliminar­y crime lab report had come back confirming the type of bullet and gun used in the Oct. 5 assault on his house, located on his sprawling, 300-acre farm in this small New Jersey Township of just over 10,000.

On Oct. 5, state police responded to a 9-11 call from Debi Dobbs, matriarch of the Dobbs homestead. She reported hearing a single gunshot ring out shortly after 10 a.m.

When police arrived, they discovered that the round had struck the siding of the Dobbs’ house but fallen harmlessly to the ground without penetratin­g. At the time, Dobbs and some legally documented workers were standing outside the home ...

Was Lou moving too fast? Did his shirt and tie blend into the surroundin­gs? Was Lou too quiet?

All that, and they dented the vinyl siding slightly? No, there's no way it could have been an intentiona­l shot at Lou.

It is terrible that those who do not agree with Dobbs would go so far as to shot at his residence. Rather uncivilize­d behavior, I would say! He has a right to his opinion without fear of violence to himself or his family.

Per the NJ Police, Lou Dobbs is either wrong or lying. The police say if Lou Dobbs is in fear of his life, he should crusade a little against hunters around his house. They say the problem is sloppy gun-use, not immigrants in New Jersey.

A good news for a change ! And, I hope he is scared! Lou Dobbs is an unethical news person and an indecent man. He only spews bigotry, he is not a journalist but a hate monger. Well he obviously does not deserve to be killed, but, someone must have been actually filled to the brim with his hateful speech, his "Dobbs'ene­rgy" and lost it? Maybe after this incident Dobbs will start thinking a little before he opens his big ugly fishy mouth OR, shut up for good . Plain and simple, this man should be fired from CNN immediatel­y. I don't understand why they're letting this racist stay on the air. I can promise you, if Ted Turner still owned CNN, he would have been long gone.

It just goes to show, that CNN is a shell of it's former self. They used to be a great network. I don't know what happened, but they are no longer the news powerhouse they used to be. They lost their integrity and objectivit­y with Lou Dobbs.
