Parents Would Rather Talk Drugs Than Science Or Math, Study Says

There is a point in every family when it's time for the talk. No, not that talk. Not that one either. I'm talking about the science and math talk. The kind of talk that should happen every time your child is having trouble or even just working on their homework. Though most parents, having been through primary school themselves at some point, have a difficult time with this talk. In fact, according to a recent survey conducted through the Intel Corporation parents are more comfortable talking with their kids about drugs than about science and math.

I thought Science and Math were essential to understanding drugs.

I understand what THC is because of….

I know that there are 7 grams in a quarter oz.

How much do you have to sell 3 / 4 of your oz to pay for the 1 /4 that you keep for yourself?

Ask a high school kid about speed of trains and when they will pass and most will look at you with blank stares. Ask them about weights and dollars as they apply to drugs and they seem to get it.

Au contraire -- I talk about science, math and drug use. And if I am rusty, I read my child's textbook; if it's well written, then I can learn or relearn the subject. No problem.
