Steve Miller, president and CEO of the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, told a House panel on Thursday that his organization never opposed climate change legislation passed by the House over the summer.

"Our organization has never opposed the Waxman-Markey bill," he said.

But a June 26 ACCCE press release clearly states that the "ACCCE cannot support this bill, as it is written, because the legislation still does not adequately protect consumers and the domestic economy or ensure that the American people can continue to enjoy the benefits of affordable, reliable electricity, which has been so important to our nation."

And some are asking: Did this fella just lie to Congress? The ACCCE did not immediately return a call from LobbyBlog.

Miller was testifying at a House Energy Independence and Global Warming Committee hearing on forged letters opposing the legislation sent to members of Congress by an ACCCE subcontractor. Committee chairman Ed Markey announced at the top of the hearing that the committee's investigation had found that even though the forgeries were uncovered days before the vote, the ACCCE did nothing to own up to them.

"The Coal Coalition was willing to pay millions to peddle a point of view, but they were unwilling to spend a few cents to call the U.S. Capitol and clear the air," Markey said. "This point of view was based on scare tactics and misleading figures and had zero to do with educating the public on key issues."

Media Matters pulled the video:

Why has our country as gotten to the point where we EXPECT everyone to LIE to CONGRESS and get off without any repercussions . . . maybe if a few were stripped of wealth and FREEDOM, we might avoid the parade of lying ba$tards laughing at "the People" . . . . .

Of course, this is true along with the fact that Mr. Miller's birth happened to be a vi rgin birth.

Of course, he's NOT against attempts to protect the environment,

But he has to make sure if a bill is passed, the Constitution is respected and that our tax dollars are spent wisely (read for Iraqistan and tax cuts for Paris Hilton).

Besides if there is a government bill, there will be government mandated death panels and the old folks will be put down - since they tend to generate a lot of environmentally harmful gases.

Better to let the free market solve the problem.

It has a solution for every problem.

By the way, how are you doing on growing that pollution absorbing gill? Better hurry.

all the corporations who stand to profit from the CO2 fear mongering. Such as Goldman Sachs, who will be operate market
by which all the cap-and-trade trades are done. They stand to profit trillions of dollars over time from it and have a vested
interest in getting legislation passed and promoting a fear? of something that is not based on solid science.
Many of the scientists who were falsely cited as supporting Gore's findings have had to sue to get their names removed.

REAL unemployment is DOUBLE the 'official' statistics. Government has been playing major games with all stats for a while now - both parties are to blame.

Coal will not be cost-competitive when the new energy source under development by BlackLight Power reaches the market.

The love affair with the automobile opens other exciting paths to sharply reducing the need for fossil fuels.

Revolutionary new technology will make possible electric cars where batteries have been superseded - as well as hybrid engines that might need only one gallon of water as fuel for each thousand miles of driving.

The article: 5 Steps to Revive the Auto Industry and the Economy on the website: http://www.aesopinstitute.org outlines breakthroughs leading to cars and trucks that need no fossil fuel or recharge. More advanced versions will become power plants when parked, wirelessly selling electricity to the local utility.

These statements will, as shown by an earlier comment, understandably be greeted with skepticism and disbelief. However, the independent laboratory validation that has taken place at Rowan University, produced far more heat than can readily be explained by existing science, clearly suggesting a new source of energy is involved. The lead scientist at Rowan is now a Fellow at Cambridge University. He seeks UK laboratory reproduction. Parallel efforts have begun in Norway. Our national laboratories and other universities should reproduce these experiments.

The Rowan validation began the process of proving that new technology can allow a barrel of water to replace 200 barrels of oil!

These radically new technologies will let the love affair with vehicles change much of what is currently believed about energy.

I don't know whether it's amnesia or deliberate on these guys part but realize, everything you ever said is public record. Twenty years ago you had "radical" views? Avoided all your national guard meetings? It's there. Arrested one night for having one joint? It's there. You better not deny saying something unless it's true because today you'll probably get caught. Of coarse you can just make up "facts". Some will do that and get away with it. To their loyal followers only though.
Way to many people just don't realize the power of computer networks. They tend however to eventually realize it when something in their past is caught by one.

The following emerging clean energy technology that offers 1 cent/kilowatt hr electricity is going to kill King Coal:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1iqa0dSJO0

Check out above link to a 2 and a half minute youtube video of a CNN report. What are the odds that the independent testimony below is fraudulent (not bloody likely unless you are a paranoid conspiracy theorist)? Here is a silver bullet technology: clean cheap and abundant energy.

In a joint statement, Dr. K.V. Ramanujachary, Rowan University Meritorious Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Dr. Amos Mugweru, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, and Dr. Peter Jansson P.E., Associate Professor of Engineering said, "In independent tests conducted over the past three months involving 10 solid fuels made by us from commercially-available chemicals, our team of engineering and chemistry professors, staff, and students at Rowan University has independently and consistently generated energy in excesses ranging from 1.2 times to 6.5 times the maximum theoretical heat available through known chemical reactions."

Well, I know if you google: "Brad Arnold" blacklight

and include the quotation marks you get an awful lot of hits. And concerning Blacklight Power, which is founded by Dr. Randel Mills and attempting to create a market for something based upon his work....

Well, if you got to http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/01/smallbusiness/blacklight.fsb/index.htm you can read:

[bq]
Why do scientists give Mills so much heat? By positing that a molecule's energy level can dip below its ground state, he rewrites the principles of quantum mechanics, which are widely viewed as incontrovertible. Perhaps the most widely-known critique of his theory was published by Andreas Rathke of the European Space Agency, who argues that Mills' mathematics is flawed.
[...]
While the company's followers already extol the high-energy, green, and thrifty virtues of BlackLight's technology, the rest of the world will have to wait for evidence until the fall of 2009, when the business promises to install its cells in power plants. Whether or not Mills' team meets that deadline will likely determine how BlackLight goes down in history - as a revolutionary startup or a flop 19-years in the making.
[eq]

Guess we should be finding out any day now, eh? The proof is in the..."off-site" demonstration.

One can always hope...

Here is how we need to start to think about which energy we use. If its black its bad. If its clear its clean.
Thing about this oil when extracted from the ground is black. Coal mined from the earth is black. Think about this. Have you ever seen a bus or big rig truck belch black smoke out of their exhaust? Is that good for you to breath? Is that clean?

Natural gas is drilled from the earth. Its clear. Look at the sun, the energy produced is clear. Wind generators run off something you cans see, wind is clear. Hydrogen it too is clear.

If it is clear, its clean. Lets all start using CLEAR CLEAN energy.

Clean coal is about as savvy as clean oil.

Why are we asking "Did he lie to Congress?" It is a statement of truth. Steve Miller clearly lied when he said they never opposed the Waxman-Markey bill, he did and in this age of information it's impossible for him to deny this.

Was he under oath. I'm assuming he was.

This current epidemic of constantly denying what one did and said in the past when there is ample evidence to the contrary, to me is an example of one of the worse legacies of the Bush presidency and the blame can be laid squarely on Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rove’s doorstep.
