Lawrence O'Donnell Slams Liz Cheney For Criticizing Obama's Trip To Honor Fallen Soldiers (VIDEO)

On "Countdown" Friday night, host Lawrence O'Donnell called out Liz Cheney for criticizing President Obama's visit to Dover Air Force Base to honor the returning war dead. Cheney, speaking on Fox News Radio's "John Gibson Show" Thursday, suggested that Obama had made the visit simply for the publicity. Regarding her appearance on the radio show, O'Donnell noted, "she wasn't going to let the facts get in her way."

As O'Donnell reminded viewers, President Bush and Vice President Cheney never went to Dover Air Force Base to honor fallen soldiers returning home while they were in office. O'Donnell then addressed Liz Cheney directly:

"Liz, don't let your dad do this to you. Don't let him parade you on to the stage to defend the indefensible. Let him suffer the full weight of the shame that we know he must feel when he watches Barack Obama do what he never had the decency to do."

On Ms. Chaney, the question is why the Media gives such irrelevant entity so much coverage. Why has she done of significance. The same applies her father, Mr. Chaney. He has no official position, not even in his Party. He is a citizen and one with a questionable record of activities we are still paying for in money and lives. I feel that ANYONE who posts here slamming our President Obama for honoring our dead soldiers and family members that he is doing it for political reasons is pathological. 10 months in office and only his first few weeks were sort of quite from those who hate OUR President. Where were all of you shouting/angry writers when Bush was in office for 8 years taking away our rights and daring ANYONE to complain or protest less they be labeled Un-American? Like him or not he deserves our Full support in the honoring of our dead men and women who fight for the right of even the pathological to complain. Never in my 65 years have I witnessed an American President be attacked so persistently and viciously.
I can't help but believe that race is the black elephant in the closet for many who gripe about President Obama and their admitted hatred for him. Bush and Cheney did honor those lost in Iraq. They did so after being pressured into doing so after much discussion about it in the media and forced into it. Bush used the military that is made up of our sons and daughters basically as a political backdrop to support a "war" of choice in Iraq. Obama's presence at Dover signals a change of policy and attitude relating to our soldiers seving in combat zones and those who have made the supreme sacrifice. Thank you, Mr. President for representing the nation in what has been delayed too long--paying the proper respect for our fellow citizens killed in war.
