President Obama is not nearly as gaffe-prone as his predecessor. But even he slips up once in a while. Vote for his biggest stumbles since the election:

Cracking Nancy Reagan Joke

In a press conference after winning the election, President Obama cracked that he wouldn't be holding any "Nancy Reagan seances" to talk to former presidents. He later apologized.

I liked the one when he walked into a window thinking it was a door at the White House. Or when he said Obama Care will be as efficient as the Postal Service.

If this is all you could muster, especially given his predecessor, we're in good shape.

Going to Copenhagen was not a gaffe. But, I say the Special Olympics joke was.

Sorry HP but I don't find any of these to be gaffes. And also (like some posts say here) what exactly are you referring to when you say : "One year later"?

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:49 AM on 11/04/2009

The Special Olympics one was kinda bad, and the not mentioned one with him accidentally saying 57 states when he either meant 47 or 57 contests has been used over and over again to somehow show he's as bad as Bush or something, but I agree that the rest were not that bad.

One year since his being elected.

At best some of these are jokes that didn't quite work, or attempts to do or say something useful that didn't work. Or being a tall guy forgetting to duck in a new situation. When you are monitored every time you open your mouth in public, some things are going to be slip ups, even for someone who speaks as carefully as Barack Obama.

If this is all you could compile over the year since election day, he's doing pretty swell. Need we point out that you could have compiled a list this long every week that George II was in the White House?

Sometimes every week, sometimes every day if we consider what non-sense he called speech and how he would insult blind people, people on wheel chair, etc. etc.

Not listed above but defiantly this biggest gaff is Giethner, Bernake and Summers, they are a remake of the three stooges. But let us not forget Captain Holder of the Keystone Cops.

This is exactly what I was going to say. The next one was Salazar as Interior SEc. I hope that Obama wises up and has a few new cabinet members next year. But really I think when it all sifts through, Obama has done okay, not stellar, but okay. More Bush than I would like to see too...but Geithner and Summers should really GO.

I just want to know when the big Democratic freight train is going to leave the station. How can you squander a super-majority?

It is simple....he tried to be a bi partisan president ...president to all. They were not buying and Obama kept trying. He lost too many of his supporters activity when he kept on keeping on. He needs to forget them and go for the dems and the independents. Do what he promised. And fire Bush's people.

They are both tall. Bush had no such problem, as the helicopter doors were plenty tall for him. His intellect was not the only thing short about W.

I wish HP and other media would stop misleading headlines. The president has only been in office for 9 MONTHS not a year.
