New York Times:

In a collision of politics, cooking and popular culture, Michelle Obama will reveal the secret ingredient that the chefs must use in their televised cook-off: anything that grows in the White House garden (no further spoilers here, though). Mrs. Obama will also talk about her crusade to reduce childhood obesity through better school lunches, community gardens, farmers' markets and exercise, which around the White House has the working title Healthy Kids Initiative.

Yesterday there were over 30 comments on this post, now there are 19.

The comments I made about MO's orange dress in the HYT link in this story are gone for starters - as are the responses and other posts.

What gives, HP?

Michelle is doing a GREAT job as FLOTUS! I see why her favorable ratings are going up! She did Paula Deans show and promised to invite her to the White House.

I don't even like Iron Chef America (I'm an original Iron Chef purist), but I'd sit down and watch that.

Okay, I don't know why this keeps getting deleted, but I'm going to try again. Yay First Lady Michelle! I love how you are steadily pushing this worthy cause of healthy eating in new and innovative ways! Who would have thought of going on Iron Chef America to reach what could possibly be a different demographic than usual? I watch this show anyway, so I will most definitely watch this episode. According to the article, the White House executive chef and Bobby Flay go up against the combined forces of Mario Batali and Emeril. I love Bobby Flay! Too bad Chef Sam won't be there, he is so hot!

You know what? I'm about done with this site! I'm making innocent, positive comments about the First Lady and how great it is that she's exploring this avenue of getting her message out about healthy eating, and I keep getting zapped over and over again. Yet you leave these insul ting comments about the First Lady up. This, combined with the constant negativity about her husband's administration is turning not just myself but a growing legion of people off. We don't expect a non-stop Obama love fest, but the constant negativity that is not fruitful is toxic and unproductive. If I didn't know better, I believe there is an agenda here to relegate the First Lady to a narrow caricature, what with combining her substantive endeavors with, "OMG! What is she wearing? How is her hair?" I mean, I like content like that every now and then like the next person, but it is really getting out of hand.

However, I know I'm probably wasting my time typing all of this, since this probably won't get through either. Stop censoring inoffensive posts!

Great post, Gabby. Yes, they do seem to have an agenda. All the more reason for posts like yours -- call them out and take them to task. I even e-mail them directly once in a while to let them know I don't appreciate how they post historically and /or culturally significant stories about the First Lady with a FOCUS on her belt /dress /hairdo . . . think back to the unveiling of the Sojourner Truth bust and how they focused on the First Lady's DRESS of all things.

Don't stop posting, gurrrl. I enjoy reading your comments.

Me too. Shes awesome!

I love that they are doing this for a show. Will be a great learning experience for the viewers.
We love to watch Iron Chef America and the other cooking shows. They never fail to educate. Things I never even thought could be combined are used and that helps to motivate to better nutrition as well as tastier foods at home.

Excellent cause and initiative! Kudos to Mrs. Obama and her communications director, and to Iron Chef America, which I watch regularly. I'll look forward to this episode.
