Gordon Ramsay

NEW YORK — Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has some new people to yell at. The verbally abusive star of Fox's "Hell's Kitchen" has signed a deal with Fox for a second show. Tentatively called "Masterchef," it will feature Ramsay trying to turn people who have no experience in the food industry into expert cooks. Not surprisingly, producers say Ramsay won't be afraid to tell the would-be cooks the cold, hard truth about their work.

Contestants will compete by whipping up dishes to be judged by a panel of expert chefs. The new series follows a format that has already proven successful in England and Australia.

Fox did not immediately say when the new show will go on the air.

I have no experience as a chef. I would love to be a participant in a reality show teaching and learn how to be better cooks. As a learner there is no point or fun in being called a donkey or worse.

I guess in my case, he looks like my father and my father ran a machine shop like he runs a kitchen.

However, my father purged all the profanities from his speech in his 20s and still got the same points across to a worker about carelessness, lack of common sense, and disregard of safety.

If he uses his F@#$%^& language against some of our American cooks, he may get his F@#$%^& head slapped off.

Oi, you must not have seen this past season of "Hell's Kitchen" did you? One guy tossed out on his first night, another escorted out for wanting to start a fight...

His stuff on the BBC is much better, and not just because of the lack of censorship. "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares" was far better than the Fox version because there's less overhyped drama.

I don't doubt his skills to get people to cook more... I saw his work on "F-Word" and it was great. I just shudder to think how Fox will over-hype and over-dramatize it all. They may actually get FEWER people to cook if they're not careful!

You are 100% correct. Ramsay is entertaining, but the way they cut the show on the BBC shows more of the thinking behind the conflict. Fox focuses way too much on the conflict.

Agree...the editing is much better on BBC. Totally agree with David2 as well regarding "Nightmares" on the Beeb. Much better than Fox's version. Although not Ramsay.....my wife and I enjoy "Last Restaurant Standing" on BBC.
