Time Inc Layoffs Begin At Sports Illustrated

Layoffs have begun at Time Inc. Approximately 15 to 20 sales and marketing employees were dismissed from Time Inc.'s news group tonight, largely from Sports Illustrated, according to a Time Inc. executive who asked not to be named as the company had not given authorization to discuss the matter.

Another mainstream print daily on the way down. Most papers were in the business of making money through ads. News was a means to an end. When other alternatives became available, they were carrying huge overheads and were too fat and lazy to see the train coming down the track. Too late.
