What's Your Reaction?
Jon Klein

Los Angeles Times,:

"We are not going to try to boost numbers during fallow news periods by running cartoons, as our competitors do," Klein said. "We're going to cover the news and we'll attract an ever more loyal audience as the result of it."

"They are in a completely different business than we are," he added. "We are not putting out the same product as they are. And we shouldn't be compared to them on that account."...

"Jon's correct: It's unfair to compare CNN to Fox News," said Fox News spokeswoman Dana Klinghoffer. "Based on his network's dismal ratings, it's more accurate to compare CNN to the G4 channel."

CNN is pure propaganda, even more than Fox.

Actually, yes it is fair to compare the major TV and cable "new" sites.
They don't give us the news.
And they are increasingly not being watched, because those of us who want news have gone elsewhere.

As far back as Nixon I realized that all three of the TV news channels said the same things, and used the same words - the same words as Republican talking points. The Sunday morning talk shows had the same conservatives on week after week repeating the same phrases endlessly. Fox is just the logical outgrowth of the selling of these outlets to conservative interests.

Fox is just the logical mutant of this kind of "news" reporting.

It's unfair to journalism to compare you to news.

You may think it's humorous my man, but I doubt if your stock-holders understand your mirth.

CNN is losing market share because the DON'T report the news. This network had a full time reporter at the UN but completely missed the UN Oil for Food scandal that kept Saddam Hussain in power. They just missed it. They made a deal with Saddam Hussain to put a bureau in Bagdad in return for not reporting honestly about his dictatorship. They planted a Hillary Clinton operative in the audience of the Republican debate to ask tough questions about gay rights but introduced him as just a randomly selected citizen. Or did you see Christianne Amonpour's hit job on Jews and Christians in God's Warriers where they equated these people to Islamic fundamentalists. CNN has been disguising advocacy as news for years.

When CNN goes back to straight news reporting, it will fare better. Now instead of reporting the news, they try to make the news, of ten with errors.

Rachel Maddow

Who can anyone of these cable shows compare Rachel to ?

No one does a show like hers-in a prime time cable slot - none of them.

"Who can anyone of these cable shows compare Rachel to ?"

What's your first language? I'm sure these words can be re-arranged in some manner to form a coherent sentence.

All the poster missed is a simple space. "Who can any one of these cable shows compare Rachel to?" The sentence would end in with a preposition, but that is not a disastrous faux pas. Commenting on a grammatical or English language error is superfluous to the conversation if the poster's meaning is clear by their entry, IMO. In short, lighten up.

It will be hard to take CNN seriously until they get rid of Lou Dobbs.

When there's a breaking news story, you'd get more from watching a Gilligan's Island rerun then you would from watching CNN.

When did Dr. Pinsky become CNN chief?

Pick up Dylan Ratigan and put him in prime time. He's a great no b/s interviewer w/ facts.

Hey, G4 is okay. They have an interesting line-up of programming, unlike CNN.
