Levi Johnston Demands NBC Retract "Tonight Show" Skit Mocking Fake Tweets

Levi Johnston's supposed Twitter account has received much attention — most recently on the "Tonight Show," where William Shatner performed a dramatic reading of @LeviJohnston05's tweets. However, Johnston's lawyer says it's not him tweeting, and now he's demanding a retraction from NBC.

TMZ reports that Rex Butler, Johnston's attorney, is demanding a retraction given Conan O'Brien's quote introducing the Tweets, when he said, "All real ... we did not make these up."

Butler told TMZ that he is "in the process of dealing with Twitter first. I think they have an obligation once something like this happens to make some kind of corrective measure."

I would be pissed too. If someone else is doing the twit (only lamers do the twit by the way) and I don't approve of it. Then NBC has to retract it. If they made up the twit joke and informed the viewers of it, then Levi has no say.

This guy has the same tendency to overreact that makes Palin tiresome. Why not just "roll" with it? A few tart but cryptic on-air replies would get him a guest seat with Conan (or somewhere high profile). Then, he could goof on the subject and manage the situation by coyly saying "well, I didn't actually tweet that stuff, but, hey.... if it gets me a guest spot, then sure, it was me!". He'd probably end up singing a duet with Shatner and getting offers to be an underwear model or, uh...something. Anyway.....What's to lose? His sterling reputation as a moral beacon of dignity?

At the risk of defending this guy I don't think he was saying that Conan made up the tweets but that an imposter using his name on Twitter did. There have been several 'fake' celebrity accounts on Twitter. I know someone claiming to be Whoopi Goldberg wrote some tweets until Goldberg was able to get it to stop.

You have got to be kidding. Say that they are real. The are posted on twitter and not exactly a private forum. Therefore, fair game. And how is twitter responsible for his postings?
Say that Conan made it up. Then it's the same ribbing and ridicule pundits shoot at the famous and infamous alike and therefore no crime. Levi, or at least his attorney, is showing that there's more than one idiot hick coming out of Wasilla.
