There it is again. Some of the longest players in these games, people who have been directly or indirectly involved, responsible and generally in the mix when it comes to issues of war and , think that over night a new American President is supposed to make everything magically alright. This near universal passing of the buck is entirely counterproductive. We have to each take individual responsbility for peace in our world by refusing to set upon each other with these terrible attitudes toward each other, of race, class, gender nationality or religion. Time is short. We have to get it right or will see the fruits of this labor and all the bitter aftertaste, not as a group, but as a world. Obama can't fix ills people refuse to address themselves. Israelis and Palestinians will not stop until they are too tired of war, until they see that each death prolongs the vendetta. It has to stop somewhere.

President Abbas has been betrayed and the peace process utterly destroyed.

He leaves office knowing what the future holds and that America can never again be trusted.

Article writer: ETHAN BRONNER

Ethan Bronner in the Times reports on how the Israeli government has banned journalists from entering Gaza to report on Israel's invasion or the previous bombing missions.

Yet amazingly, the Times [ETHAN BRONNER] does not include a single quote from anyone at the Times itself--an editor or correspondent--regarding the Gaza ban and how it impacts their efforts to try to cover the conflict.

In fact, the Times article doesn't quote any journalists in the region about the ban. The article simply references a statement issued by the foreign press association.

Goodbye Mr Abbas. You've been a good little US stooge most of the time since you've been in office, so why continue ruining your reputation right? Not that you achieved anything for your people.

Great post mystic, well said!

I'll believe this when it happens. Abbas has said this before (maybe to shore up popular votes) then later "changes his mind". Neither Israel nor the US want "peace" in Palestine, because it suits them to control them with bullets, water deprivation and other bestial war crime acts, this way they can continue stealing land. Meantime the Goldstone report remains and will strengthgen the call for international boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel, which worked against the other less barbaric apartheid South African regime. An effective boycott against Starbucks is already working in the UK. As long as Palestine has an American puppet in place, paid for by the American taxpayers, and refuses to talk to the legitimate democratically elected Palestinian leaders Hamas, the Palestinians have a moral right to defend themselves against occupation and the stealing of their land.

Obama has a lot to answer for. He's simply a disaster. Clinton claiming her disgraceful visit as a success is the last straw. They are the merchants of death. There is no reason for anyone in the region to trust a word this liar in chief has to say. Israel might be smug now but just wait.. Obama is weak willed and just takes the easiest route.
They humiliated Abbas and frankly proved that Hamas was right all along. Obama and Clinton now officially support the taking of land and the slaughter of Palestinian civilians mostly women and children
He's let the voters down in America which is bad enough but to have the audacity to go to Cairo and give a speech of hope and then act like GWB at his most cynical is disgusting.
I could never imagine a President lie with such ease and be praised over and over for not doing a damn thing. Obama has to be stopped. The world cannot survive more of his back stabbing. Clinton just makes matters worse. Clinton betrayed the last slither of hope left for peace.
