What's Your Reaction?
Fox Friends Fort Hood Craziness

On this morning's Fox And Friends, hosts Brian Kilmeade and Gretchen Carlson were all a-whip with Salem Witch Trial panic over the thought that Nidal Hasan represented some sort of vanguard of deadly Islamist shootings to come.

Kilmeade began the nonsense thusly:

KILMEADE: Do you think it's time for the military to have special debriefings of Muslim Army officers -- anybody enlisted?...Because if I'm going to be deployed in a foxhole, if I'm going to be sticking in an outpost, I got to know the guy next to me is not going to want to kill me.

First of all, as someone who's been unfortunate enough to catch Brian "The Brown Haired One" Kilmeade revealing his personality on the air, my judgment on the matter is that the only foxhole in which Kilmeade is not likely to encounter someone who harbors the desire to do him harm is one in which he is the sole occupant. And even then, who knows? I give even odds!

But it fell to Geraldo Rivera to point out the obvious:

RIVERA: But isn't this the headline, Brian, that there are four or five million American Muslims and how scant and few and far between these horrifying incidents are? It's the same thing in the military. Believe me, I've been in Afghanistan with these guys,in Iraq with these guys. They are treasured for their bilingualism, their multiculturalism, the fact that they can bridge and understand and translate for us.

But then, Gretchen Carlson became concerned with "political correctness," saying, "Could it be that out military was also exercising political correctness -- even though he had a poor performance report, even though he spoke openly about being a radical and had those supposed postings online -- could it be that the military was exercising political correctness in not approaching as seriously as they would have if he had not been a Muslim."

Rivera agreed though he went on to cite government bureaucracy, not political correctness, as the reason those warning signs went unheeded.

WATCH:

By the way, here's a fun fact:

Motorcycle and street gang members have joined the U.S. military and served in Iraq, a new FBI report says.

[...]

The Defense Department does not track gang membership in the military. But FBI investigators believe the reduction in enlistment standards -- due to recruitment pressure related to the Iraq War -- has brought more gang members in.

Recruiters are not trained to look for signs of gang membership, the report said. Others ignore criminal records of willing volunteers -- such as the recruiter who concealed the fact that a member of the Latin Kings was awaiting trial for a razor assault on a New York police officer.

So, I'm not sure, exactly how or where "political correctness" enters into this.

Wow, when Geraldo is the voice of reason, it's a dire scene.

I think sane, thinking, ordinary Americans need special debriefings after flipping the channel to these boobs. And a shower.

Great, let's make it mandatory for Muslims identify themselves, we'll not make it illegal to be gay, but we won't allow the same rights, we'll slowly chip away at abortion rights and hack away at equal rights all while allowing fewer and fewer restrictions toward big business and big power. Welcome to the 21st century, when we are both too paranoid and not paranoid enough.

"Fox and Friends...Hosts worry..." . Now that is a laugh. Fox and Friends do not seem to worry much about helping foster hate groups within our own population which would love nothing better than to destroy this administration. Oh gee, I can sleep better now that I know Faux and Fiends are so worried.

What a joke these fools are:

KILMEADE: "Do you think it's time for the military to have special debriefings of Muslim Army officers -- anybody enlisted?...Because if I'm going to be deployed in a foxhole, if I'm going to be sticking in an outpost, I got to know the guy next to me is not going to want to kill me."

How can any of these idiotic chicken hawks ever pretend to know what happens in the military. They don't have a clue. Foxholes??? Is the military even still using foxholes? I haven't seen one foxhole in any of the coverage of the Iraq or Afghanistan Wars. The only reason these fools are talking about such things is because it gives them another opportunity mention the word Fox! What B.S.!!!

When I went thru basic training in 89, they were still using foxholes for training. They probably still are, but you are so right that none of these guys would have ever volunteered for the military and would probably try to dodge a draft if it were reinstated and they know nothing about it.

I don't know for sure (as i am a civilian) but my guess as to why you do not see foxholes in the news coming from Iraq and Afghanistan is because most of the combat that I'm aware of is them ambushing us so we don't have time to dig foxholes so the soldiers run to a wall to find cover

The news is not good for those who wish to imagine this is ONLY spawned by someone who is just plain nuts...even if one wants to be amazingly charitable, hanging around that mosque with a very nutty imam did not help this guy's frame of mind nor ease his obvious severe paranoia.

No one is saying that he is the first guard of Islamic extremists ready to commit terrorist acts on bases...but sadly, there have been other episodes not unlike this one...

Also, the evidence appears to be mounting that Nadal DID have some connections to not-so savory types at a mosque in 2001, namely the Imam, who spouted nutty anti-American BS at the time...not to mention said mosque was also attended by 9/11 suspects...at the very least, it seems Nadal's anti-American rhetoric seems to have been fueled by the kooky imam at that mosque, there can be little doubt.

I think his notions that he was the subject of harrassment was more the subject of fevered paranoia than reality...did he file complaints? Where are they? About whom? Dates, times, words said need to be supplied. Otherwise I will stick with paranoia being the root of this.

Totally agree.

This is war, time for vigorous profiling, just like WWII with Japanese, Germans and Italians. Didn't need internment camps, but definitely profiling, many documented cases of information gathering found, including my son's uncle who, as a Naval intelligence officer, discovered a lady in San Francisco passing ship movements in Treasure Island to German authorities in Berlin.

It's just common sense.

When the war's over, we can stand down.

No - we're in a war with Muslims. No periods. Who else do you think we're fighting against? Did the Taliban suddenly convert to Scientology? Is Osama bin Laden a Mormon? These guys are fundamentalists and extremists who reject modern culture and want the entire world to live and die according to Islamic law (as they interpret it). This certainly doesn't mean that all or even most Muslims are extremists who hate America. But if we could suddenly remove the Muslim component from these wars, they would be over.

Really? We need profiling? I was just in Jacksonville, Fl, chaperoning a field trip for my daughter. I was walking alone along the event route and came to the end of the street where there were about 6 or 7 cops hanging out. I was on the phone checking in with my kid, I was wearing a sweatshirt, capris and sneakers and my red pocket book. I am indian. I am a veteran. And this cop walks up to me while I'm on the phone and asks to see my bag. I was stunned. They didn't ask anyone else, there was no one else around me. I'd seen them from as far as a block and a half away and they did not ask anyone else who walked by them. I let the cop do his thing, but it was humiliating and I felt violated. I didn't want to ask him why he did what he did, because 1 we were not from the area and 2 if I got arrested, my kid would be on her own. And we all know it would be the cop's word against mine. So Phil, I suggest you think before the words we should profile get spoken again, as you have no idea how it makes innocent people feel.

I think these people are all married. Why do they want to go around debriefing people they don't even know? I'm sure it's grounds for divorce.

I occasionally watch Fox and Friends just so I can laugh at their mistruths and exagerations.
I also get the feeling that I'm watching a parody of some run of the mill local news round table.
It's quite surreal but I feel like I've seen it all before...it's like a rerun.

Let's get ALL the Muslim Americans together, and then get all the FOX viewers together and see who is the most anti-American. I think you'd be surprised. The rest of us, not so much.

I'm suprised that no Fox News person or Republican has yet suggested that Muslims when in public wear a yellow badge to identify themselves. It seems like something they might suggest.

Too bad.

They identify themselves clearly enough already, with their offensive clothing, their fevered demeanor and their rantings to no one in particular about some obscure offense against Allah by Infidels. Who needs a yellow badge? They already carry the red flag of lunacy, accorded, alas, the dignity of "one of the world's great relgions" and thus sacrosanct. We must not use our common sense to connect mass murder, slavery, rapine, piracy, etc., committed every day, all over the globe by Muslims, with Islam, else be tarred as unsophisticated bigots by the commissars of political correctness.
