Car Surfing

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Police say a U.S. tourist who was pretending to be surfing on the hood of a friend's moving car was killed when he fell and broke his neck in a popular Puerto Rican beach town.

Police spokeswoman Yolanda Hernandez says 29-year-old Long Beach, New York, resident Jorge Geysel fell off his friend's Isuzu Trooper as he was "car surfing" along a road in the west coast community of Rincon early Saturday.

Hernandez says the insurance salesman died instantly.

It was not clear how fast the car was traveling.

Hernandez says she can't yet say whether Geysel's two companions will face any criminal charges.

I would just like to say that I simply wanted to google an article about a good friend of mine just to see what it said and on top of it have to read all of these heartless responses. You know NOTHING about George. HE LIVED A BETTER LIFE IN 29 YEARS THAN MOST PEOPLE WILL IN A LIFETIME!. There is no doubt about it that he lived for excitement and was an adrenaline junkie but please people stop with the comments.Newspapers over exaggerate and fabricate stories. I honestly didn't even know you could post comments and I truthfully think it is wrong that you can. I just hope that none of his family especially his mother comes across this article. So please keep your comments to yourself and think about his friends and family.

Thank you

Some years back, there was a similar problem
in NYC. Young people surfing on the subway.
A few of them misjudge the height or clearance
above them, you could imagine what the end
result was.

During my college years a kid got drunk and did the car surfing thing with friends.

He fell off coming down a steep hill at a good clip. They unplugged several days later.

The next weekend his friends were getting falling down drunk. In honor of their friend they said.

Oblivious

How much money would you bet they were drunk on alcohol vs high on marijuana?

A pothead would have gone to sleep before even getting anywhere near that car.

I don't gloat in these tragic situations, but come on, where's the common sense? if you don't want to get maimed for life/killed, then, you don't do these kind of daredevil stunts.

You never hear of people dying USING their brains.

That said, I am very sorry for his family and hope they can find some solace for their unnecessary loss of such a young man.

Prudence and intelligence aside, I can promise you that alcohol was involved. Seemingly smart people will do galactically stupid things when drunk.

Tragic but predictable.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. But, let me say, as a child decided to grab a bus bumper during icy weather, hoping to ride three blocks on the ice. Since I was one of the kids, that bus driver got out, grabbed me, and paddled the bejebus out of me.
