Reps King, Hoekstra Attempt To Wrap Capitol With Health Care Bill

Early Friday afternoon, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) announced his intentions to wrap the Capitol building in a massive copy of the 1,900-page health bill. "Let's do it," he proclaimed. "Let's wrap the building."

A security guard urged them not to try ("You can't do that sir, you can't do that.") but King was determined. King and his partner Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-Mich.) don't appear to have made it all the way around the Capitol, but they did climb the steps and create a giant mess of paper.

I wonder which one stole the idea from his granddaughter's cheerleading team after homecoming. Next on their agenda: egg the White House, play ding dong ditch at the Watergate and TP the ceilings in the public washroom outside of congress.

A few things on this. Of course they wanted to go outside and wrap the capitol in paper, they would do anything to get out of doing the real work at hand like reading the bill. Secondly, did they clean up after themselves?

again with the "the bill is this long" argument. Where were these folks when we passed the farm bill? Why didn't I see anyone criticize it's length?

Because they didn't read it, even after their Corporate Sponsors went to all the trouble of writing it.

The Republicans in my state just gobbled it up. The farm lobby loved it. It's so two faced when they applaud one insanely long bill that doesn't really do all that much for America and trash another long bill that could actually better America.

OMG the bill has so many words. It must be very scary.

That's basically it - a major bill has a lot of pages, and that automatically means it must be a bad thing. It plays to their constituents' fear of complexity in general, or at least the Beckian faction of their constituents whom they choose to represent. And of course the reflexive hatred of civil government in general: more pages=more gummint=bad.

I hope they made King and Hoekstra clean up the mess. Then, they would be doing the only job that they are both qualified to do at the capitol--janitorial services.

Hofstra and all his fellow clownmens are so pathetic. Afterall of their lies, scare tactics and and hate mongering they have lost . The anger and disappointment on their faces tells the story.
