What's Your Reaction?
Glenn Beck

"Saturday Night Live" opened last night with a sketch lampooning Fox News's election coverage. Yes, the 2009 elections dominated cable news coverage consisted of exactly two gubernatorial races and two congressional seats, but that didn't stop Fox News from spinning it as a referendum on Obama's presidency.

SNL's sketch focused on a panel lead by Greta Van Susteren (aptly played by Kristen Wiig) of three conservative voices and Joe Trippi, representing all Democrats. The latter was not called on to speak once.

At one point, Greta threw to Glenn Beck--Jason Sudeikis's greatest role to date--who was crying, trying on hats, and having linguistic problems on a chalk board. "Oh, and Greta, I also realized you could rearrange the letters of your name to spell 'A Great' and it was a great night--a great great night for a great great nation."

OH, GOD!! THAT was HILARIOUS! Kristin Wiig nailed Greta Van Sustern and Jason Sudekis gave the best impersonation of Glenn Beck I've ever seen! They made their point perfectly!

At this point the republicans would rejoice and call it a major victory if they managed to elect a dog catcher in Pudunk Mississippi. It reminds me of the interview with the coach of a football team that lost 98 to 3. Coach " I know that our defense might have done a little better and we'll work on that all week so we can win next week".
Any win to the republicans is something to rejoice over. Deservedly so too.

One of the better skits I've seen on SNL in a while--truly funny. Taylor Swift was quite good too. I don't like her music so much, but she did a pretty good job in her scenes.

Karl Rove predicted a win of NY-23 and lost, Eric Cantor guaranteed no GOP vote for health reform and lost, meanwhile, Obama won 2 votes that helped him pass healthreform. Who even remembers the last 4 governors in Virginia, the guy in New Jersey will probably last one term. but Fox news will never tell you this.

Fox Noise just begs to get spoofed.

It's about time SNL did some spoofing of Fox News. What took them so long?

WE as christians can not maliciously judge our adversary. Glen Beck took a different road after high school than others. Glen Beck , Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh do the best they can with their High School education. We know they have no formal post graduate education Yet they are champions of what a person can do without an education. All three men live in huge mansions of 16000 square feet and above.

I tip my hat.

tipping your hat to materialism as a christian, no wonder christians give christianity such a bad name

Ain't that the truth! And none of that stuff can they take with them when they meet their maker. Materialistic oofs!

Yes, it truly is amazing how many lies you can spread with just a high school education.

So, how's that "camel through the eye of a needle" project going? Kinda tough, huh? Thought so.

I don´t think most here have any idea of the untapped anger out there of run away spending, the govt doubling in size the last 10 months and the approval rating of congress who is trying to ram this 2000 page, out of control spending health bill, when a just a few things passed, would allow congress and the President to claim victory. There is a reason FOX News leads all other cable networks over two to one. The liberals (progressives) and you here who make fun of FOX News do so at your own peril. Obama and the dems are over-reaching, have not learned from history and will pay at the poll booth in a year. I sat the last election out and was happy to see Obama win as I thought McCain would be at his ranch in Arizona. But seeing the amazing amount of spending, don´t think Beck, O´reilly, Limbaugh and others are not on to something. If the dems want to keep control they had best get smart with the spending, win the war in Afghanistan (An Obama promise) and get outside of the beltway and San Francisco.

Really ? Untapped anger at Obama for Bush's recession ?

The govt. size is pretty much the same as it was 2 years back. In recent history, It is the Bush administration which increased the size of the govt. most.

About the so called 'anger', its mostly manufactured by GOP front groups - I haven't seen so many outraged white folks who are so pissed that a colored boy now owns them ;-)

About Fox's ratings, the most people who watch them is the over 65 crowd which is too technologically challenged to get to the internet for news. (or too old to wake up past 11:00 PM to watch Jon Stewart). Fox had a huge (white, old, male) viewership even before the election, fat lot of good it did to the GOP.

Beck, O'relly lImbaugh are good at propagandizing and manufacturing outrage, it's their job. Regarding general elections, we will win in 2010 and beyond (by smaller margins) and in the meantime pass all the bills that we have to pass and promised to the American people.

Meantime, you may decide to sit out the other elections too, 'cause Palin has absolutely no chance to achieving anything in the national arena.

Bottomline, 20% of white, older voters do not determine the fate of the country, the rest of us do. If you don't like it, either invent a time machine to go back to the 50s or grin and bear it, failing which, North Korea is always an option

First of all, where were you when Dubya actually did double the size of government by creating the Dept. of Homeland Security?
In what way has Obama increased the size of government?
It has been stated over and overagain, that any Health Bill will pay for itself, first and foremost.
There hasn't been one decided on yet, for your information.
And the single biggest reason Fox leads in the ratings, is because it is the sole "news" source for the majority of people who watch it.
The incurious masses who don't read and are looking to be entertained more than informed.

Jon had to carry out the act longer, which takes more talent and energy. I thought this was good, though.

Someone posted here that Beck, like Morton Downey once had, has the impossible job of trying to top himself every week. I'm comforted that this will be his, and FOX News, undoing. Eventually, in a desperate effort to outdo themselves, they will say or do something so seditious and un-American in a mere, petty grab for ratings, that they will not recover from public scorn. This "urine yellow journalism" has an expiration date and just like the yellow journalism of the 1890s and of Hearst newspapers, it will flame out in infamy.

For the righties who are screaming foul, do we need to remind them of the difference between Fox News and a comedic skit show on NBC?

Or perhaps there is no difference, eh?
