Conservative Group: Time To Purge Muslims From Military (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:35 PM ET

A chief spokesman for the pro-life, far-right organization, American Family Association, has called for the purging of Muslim soldiers from military ranks in the wake of the tragic killings at Fort Hood.

Bryan Fischer, AFA's Director of Issues Analysis, put up a relatively unnoticed blog post last Friday arguing that U.S. command needed to "stop the practice of allowing Muslims to serve in the U.S. military."

"The reason is simple," Firscher wrote, "the more devout a Muslim is, the more of a threat he is to national security. Devout Muslims, who accept the teachings of the Prophet as divinely inspired, believe it is their duty to kill infidels. Yesterday's massacre is living proof. And yesterday's incident is not the first fragging incident involving a Muslim taking out his fellow U.S. soldiers."

"Of course, most U.S. Muslims don't shoot up their fellow soldiers. Fine. As soon as Muslims give us a foolproof way to identify their jihadis from their moderates, we'll go back to allowing them to serve. You tell us who the ones are that we have to worry about, prove you're right, and Muslims can once again serve. Until that day comes, we simply cannot afford the risk. You invent a jihadi-detector that works every time it's used, and we'll welcome you back with open arms."

"This is not Islamophobia, it is Islamo-realism."

The comments came days before Army Chief of Staff George Casey expressed his concern that a wave of anti-Muslim sentiment would make its way through the military ranks in the wake of the Ft. Hood shootings. Certainly they represent the most politically divisive (not to mention narrow-minded) take yet as to the actions of Nidal Malik Hasan.

American Family Association is, at its heart, a culturally conservative institution but, even for them, this post pushes the envelope. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, Republican figures who have appeared before the AFA will say about Fischer's missive.

This idea led to the shameful incarceration of American citizens during WW!!
This history must be told in our history, and the lesson is that ordinary and patriotic citizens must never have their rights dismissed because of greneral assumptions.

You mean there are no "devout" christians that kill? like the Oklahoma bomber for instance.
There are plenty of so called fundamentalists in the world all hiding behind their religion or some other extreme cause.
Banning muslims from the military is a sure way to create a great divide and there will be no going back.
How do these people get air space?

Oh, please, Brian - surly you don't plan to stop there!

Shouldn't we lock up all of the American Muslims - like we did to the Japanese during WW2?

You know, there are many Christians who are so dedicated to following Christ that when the moment of truth comes they may not pull the trigger to kill another human being even if it means putting themselves and the soldiers who depend on them in harm's way. What good is a soldier who so adheres to Christ's example that he/she refuses to obey orders to kill? I see a potential problem of huge proportions here. I tell you what, let's keep Christians out of the military until we can discern who the TRUE followers of Christ's example are from those who only say they are followers of Christ's example. Whaddaya say?

Sounds like a good idea. For the same reason, we should purge all of the fundamentalist Christians, too. And members of the American Family Association first. Because who knows, they might decide their Pope or their Bishop or their Lay Deacon should be obeyed rather than the orders of their superior officers and non-coms. Oh, wait...they already did.

So all of the troops who have been killed as a result of intentional fratricide in the history of the United States military were by defnition fragged by Muslims?

This is what your post would seem to imply.

I'm 60 years old. If I'm lucky, I'll have another 20 years... I thought I was lucky to live long enough to see an African American man become President of the United States....then the Birthers and wingnuts started their organized efforts to de-legitimize a legally elected president. And the Palins and the Demints, the Limbaughs and the Becks continue their lies and deceit and I realize that we really have taken a step backwards.

Purging the military of Muslims is unconstitutional, illegal, and even with our conservative Supreme Court it would never make it through to law. The people advocating this are simply mouthing off...they have no power to legislate or influence. Time for sensible people to start getting angry at the Right and shouting them down. Or simply bite their fingers off.

Just do not put it up to a democratic vote. As Prop 8 / Question 1 showed, in private, with no accountability, Americans can be as hateful and bigoted and prejudiced as we have ever been in our dark history. Fear trumps reason and compassion and morality in this nation.

And prove Al Qaida right in their allegation that the U.S. is engaged in a war on Islam not terrorism.

There are consequences for actions.

We keep making disastrous policy choices, we will keep having disastrous results.

We need to win the hearts and minds of all persons of good faith around the world, not keep proving our enemies right in their propoganda war against us.

Ah, yes. I knew it was only a matter of time before the folks who believe VISTA volunteers are sent to indoctrination camps would extend their paranoid fantasies. We can expect a call for Muslim internment camps before long. But I love the logic; it supports a variety of ideas. How about this one? We know, for example, that the more committed anti-abortion activists become to preventing abortion clinics from operating, the more likely it is that they will engage in violence, including arson, assault and murder. Therefore, sound principles of public safety requires that we identify such individuals through membership records, email exchanges, Facebook entries and similar investigatory methods, take them into custody and isolate them from law-abiding citizens.

That's right! Leave the killing to the Christians! Waaayyyy more experience.

"Open up the gates of the church and let me out of here.
Too many people have lied in the name of Christ for anyone to heed the call.
So many people have died in the name of Christ that I can't believe it all..."

Wilkedge is right one the button. We have too many right winger ultra extremist born again "Christians" in the military. Scares the heck out of me. What if we need to declare martial law? Will these extremist kill all who do not agree with them?
