Curb Your Enthusiasm

NEW YORK — TV Land and TV Guide Network say they are jointly acquiring basic cable rights to air "Curb Your Enthusiasm," the HBO comedy series produced by and starring "Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David.

"Curb Your Enthusiasm" will come to TV Guide Network starting next February. Viacom's TV Land expects to air the series as early as 2013, immediately following its run on TV Guide Network, which is owned by Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.

Both networks also say they will acquire certain broadband, wireless and video-on-demand rights, bringing "Curb Your Enthusiasm" to multiple platforms.

Pay-cable network HBO, a unit of Time Warner Inc., is currently premiering the seventh season of the series, which also stars Cheryl Hines, Jeff Garlin and Susie Essman.

I have to say that the hype that was built around this season of Curb as a Seinfeld reunion is faling flat. For all the talk about the Seinfeld cast being on the show, it hasn't delivered and now there's only 2 shows left to the season. I feel a little duped.

Just sayin'.

Watch it on DVD if you don't have HBO. Edited Curb (with commercials?) will not be the same.

I'd love to see it. just watched and enjoyed David as the caustic protagonist in woody Allen's "Whatever Works", and would love to see a good ensemble comedy. on the tube. uh, it's a comedy, right?

This season. is the best ever....every one has been brilliant, hilarious and so well knitted together. It's been so much better without all of his domestic drama. Would like to see more Wanda Sykes, though.

I'm a fan of Curb but completely disagree with your assessment of the season so far. There's been very little Seinfeld and this last episode with the pants was just the worst. They really seem to be reaching this season and as for the whole 'Seinfeld Reunion"...I feel duped.

Ditch HBO? HBO probably has some of the best programming on television.

I watch Curb on Comcast OnDemand because I just haven't had enough time to watch it regularly. The new season is even better than the last. I love the show!!!

I agree HBO has some of the best television programming available.... set a new standard. It's no wonder HBO garners both the highest number of nominations as well actual Emmy Awards.

For those of us who refuse to pay for HBO, this is a blessing from Larry.

And what are the two possible ways to injure your neck, a car accident and cu**il**gus. Take that ,basic cable!

That was pure genius, and only from the mind of Larry David. Jeff showing up with the neck brace for the punch line sealed it. I haven't laughed so hard as I have this entire season. They are going to bring home so many Emmys this season.

You have never seen the show and in particular the episode you mentioned. Too bad.
It was soooo funny.
Jesus laughed.

Like you know what episodes MP saw......

So glad you had a good laugh --

What if he had peed on the Quran??

You think Allah would be laughing?

The irony of your usage of a "not" joke to rip on one of the most authentically hilarious shows around is almost too much to bear.

Let me guess...you

1) have never seen that particular episode,
2) believe Larry ACTUALLY pee'd on on the picture of Jesus on purpose (rather than accidentally getting toilet splash on it)
3) believe Larry wasn't at all concerned by the fact he had accidentally gotten toilet splash on the picture
4) doesn't know that Larry has poked a thousand more jokes at the expensive of Judaism on his show
5) believe this is some insane "conspiracy" by the "liberal elites"
6) had never even heard of the show until that article on Townhall.com last week told you what to think instead of researching it yourself

right?

At least one episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm made fun of Islamic practices (the chador, if I recall correctly).

I can't believe Larry David would allow his show to be sliced and diced for puritanical mainstream America. It's kind of what his show is all about - poking fun at these people, now he's becoming one of them for the money? Larry, get a grip, you have enough money. Editing Curb is tantamount to blasphemy.

I believe Larry doesn't own the show, HBO does. He'll be compensated, but won't have any say in the final deal.

I agree with your opinion of the basis of its humor - just get the DVD set to preserve the real concept.

Arguably. Hell, unarguably to me the best show on TV right now. Buy the DVDs, rent them from Netflix, see it un-neutered by "TV Guide network". It will NOT be the same show, but still funnier than anything else they roll out. There's a whole run on an episode which aired just last night, featuring Julia Louis- Dreyfuss wherein she wants to do be in a show on HBO because she can say "f*ck" (now I'm doing it - an example of what will happen on basic cable). And in the same episode, Larry, during a poker game, calls a gay guy a "c*nt" for folding early. He late regrets that he used that volatile word, instead of p*ssy. All those words have to be heard in full for the jokes and story to work.

Bleeps can be bleeping hilarious. The Seth and Alex show last night used "Cleveland" as their bleep for a pottymouth bit and it had me rolling on the floor.

Right, but in their case it was part of the gag from the beginning (in fact if you watch their mouths you can see they were saying "cleveland" instead of whatever curseword was supposed to be there.

In the case of Curb, the differences between cussword A and cussword B are completely lost when both sound like "bleep", and in the example provided above by Bobbygoode, the difference between those words is the core of the joke.

How can he be sorry he called him a bleep when he should have called him a bleep? Calling someone a bleep is so much worse than calling them a bleeping bleep. Huh?
