Demi Moore

Demi Moore covers the new W magazine in a golden metal dress and inside poses for a sexy shoot. Two days shy of 47, Moore tells the magazine that her age is stifling her career...but don't call her a cougar. Here are some highlights:

On aging in Hollywood:

"The frustrating part is that the type of roles I'd be interested in are not really coming to me. I hate to say it's a function of my age--but yes, I think in some ways it is. The majority of [female] roles are geared between 25 and 35."

On being called a cougar for her marriage to Ashton Kutcher, 31:

"I'm certainly not the first person to be in a relationship with a younger man, but somehow I was plucked out as a bit of a poster girl. I don't know why that is. But I just kind of step back sometimes and say, 'There is some reason, and what is it that I have to share in a positive way?...I'd prefer to be called a Puma."

On her connection to Ashton:

"The most overwhelming part of meeting someone that you already felt you had such a deep and old connection with is that your feelings are greater than the time you've had to actually be with one another. Now we've had the physical time together. The love he has for me makes me a better person by giving me the courage to take risks. I can fail and have someone who loves me just the same. I never knew it was quite possible."

Quelling rumors that she plans to be billed as 'Demi Kutcher':

"As a married woman, I am and will always be Mrs. Kutcher. But I have my career as Demi Moore."

I wish this cougar/puma labelling would stop already. Last week, one of my colleagues at work presented me with a gorgeous designer leopard print scarf saying, "you're a cougar". She thought the term was a cool way to refer to me as a non-Japanese women. I'm not a cougar! I'm in my early thirties and I don't have a 19 year old boyfriend.

We wanted to have a birthday party for Demi...with a cake and a candle for every year, but, the fire marshall said no.

Well, it doesn't help that Ashton Kutcher is on a cheesy LIfetime movie playing the boyfriend of 'cougar' Michelle Pfeiffer.

When i'm her age, I would LOVE to look her age. Who said aging gracefully means you have to accept wrinkles? Personally, I'd prefer to work out, use my face creams, and stay fit. When people say 'age gracefully', I find that many think it means accept being a weak old person. I would hate to give in that easily. Kudos to her for living life how she sees fit. Poo on the haters.

Historically, I don't think that our ancestors believed in that "aging gracefully" crap either. Their have been plenty of excavations with evidence of cosmetics, oils, and the like for the afterlife. There is no crime in wanting to look good.

She could go on Cougar Town and play Courteney Cox's older sister. They look like sisters. They could run into each other at the plastic surgeon!

She made some valid comments. Its a sad fact, but once someone in this industry hits 25, the few roles out there go to the younger women. Its the old boys club running the show. They dont' want anyone that is over 25-30, that might acutally look thier age. God forbid. If I was she, I would take on the role of producer, take on indy projects that are thrown her way, make her millions and have the last laugh. As for the puma comment? Being near 50 myself, I dont' really see the issue of older women dating younger men. Its a number, big deal, not a federal crime to date or marry a younger guy. Double standard, as its ok for men to date kids, or should I say barbie doll gold diggers, but if a woman does it, she is somehow a tramp. So, what does that make the men who do this? Hello. Demi, I have scripts for you to produce that would put many males to shame. Go for it girl and get the last laugh on all of them.

The industry doesn't even have a bunch of decent roles for younger actors. Judging from the uptick in remakes, Hollywood has run out original ideas.

How women on this site can attack Demi Moore for such petty reasons is beyond me. You are contributing to the whole thing about keeping women in that superficial spectrum of being judged on appearance.....one result is young girls becoming obsessed with their appearance instead of who they are on the inside.
I personally think it is obvious Demi Moore is a beautiful woman. So what? I like that she takes the risk of being open on Twitter or wherever to be who she is. Don't be jealous of other women. Support eachother.

The problem with your point is the fact that Demi Moore is an over the hill actress who cannot accept that she is getting older. Marrying a boy so much younger. It's very sad actually. Women need to embrace the beauty and widom of age, not try to hang on to days gone by. The kid does the show punked for heavens sake. Ok for 20s 30s. But please. She could be a grandma shortly.

I can only hope that your comment is tongue in cheek? If not, then, I suppose you sorta make my point.

She's so paranoid for no reason because she looks 25. What is her problem? She doesn't have one, maybe that's her problem. hahaha

Hey Demi, you have that scared tight skin look over 40 year old women have thinking they are young. Stop while you are ahead or you will be craving animals as men will come to bore you.

You should be capable of the cinematic word if it weern’t for some of the _ _ _ _ _ _ present in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. What would you think is the most productive genre in motion pictures with its own sub-categories, if you can call it genre. (Incidentally, you look like a creative writing prof.) You should see the jacket! https://www.mepis.org/

Wow, so many mean spirited comments here. I say she looks great and you are all jealous.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:43 PM on 11/10/2009

It is SO very boring to refer to people as jealous just because they think an aging actress is unattractive in her blatant attempt to cling to her 20's.
