Fans Storm Out Of Britney Spears Lip-Syncing Concert

On Friday, about 100 angry fans reportedly stormed out of Britney's concert at the Burswood Dome in the Western Australia city of Perth, saying they were disappointed by the lackluster performance and Spears's lip-synching during her two-hour show. Spears gave Perth fans a generic welcome, never mentioning their city by name. "What's up Australia?," she said from the stage. "How you feeling tonight? It's so good to be here tonight. Your country is beautiful."

Broadway performers do it all the time. Sometimes for two performances in a night. If Britney, or any pop performer, can't sing and dance at the same time they should tone down the dancing and save the rigorous moves for the instrumental sections. Then again Britney's so tone-deaf she can't sing even when standing still and there are amateur drag acts who put on better lip-syncing performances than she does.

One would hope that 'singers' will go back to singing and be appreciated for that, instead of going crazy about over produced spectacles that somehow puts the actual music second.

There's a famous old movie which does a good job of explaining why lip synching is done. It's called "synching in the rain", or something like that.
