How can you have highlights of a trip that hasn't begun? I think itinerary is more apt.

I'm sorry to see that he is not making a stopover in the Philippines. They are a great friend of the U.S.A. and it would be nice if the POTUS came there. The people would love it.

As someone who does business with China every day of the week (Imp/Exp), I can tell you that the Chinese and their culture consider personal relationships (guanxi) as the foundation of doing business and/or generally getting things done between two parties (http://chinese-school.netfirms.com/guanxi.html; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guanxi). Their culture is based on this.

The 'guanxi' Obama establishes on this trip will serve everyone well and it does not make Obama a Communist, socialist, Marxist or sympathizer, so don't even start that line of B.S. Obama is showing respect for China, its government and the Chinese people by traveling there and meeting face-to-face with their leaders.

I don't understand all these silly, uneducated comments regarding the current Sino-American relationship. USA and China are (and will continue to be) the most important nations of the 21st Century and constructive meetings between the two governments are of the highest importance. Not only are the issues of bi-lateral trade and finance critical but also the whole spectum of global stewardship, including worldwide security, economic stability and planet sustainability.

Grow up people.

it makes sense for Obama to go see where all of our products are produced. Mr. President please encourage the Chinese Government to keep wages low so we can continue to buy super cheap products from Walmart, Target, KMART and KOHLS.

Great, I live in Shanghai, China! What a great idea to visit this awesome city. We have commercial maglevs doing 430km/h and the worlds tallest building (by roof, not antenna). So much to see for Obama.

okay...not sure why my comments got scrubbed but will try again. I sit here reading a lot of posts and am wondering where your love for your neighbors and your fellow Americans went. I understand that politics can make for some volatile conversations as it does in every country but you all seem to be carrying that to extreme. You have a hatred for each other that knows no bounds and some of you despise your President for all of the wrong nasty reasons when he is admired all over the world because after your last President, he is a breath of fresh air. Perhaps some of you really SHOULD experience, Communism, totalitarism, or dictatorships in order to understand how good you have it but to call your President Hitler or Gawd forbid worse is just wrong from all directions...you can disagree with policies and that is understandable but the vitriole seems to me, looking in from the outside, to be way over the top.

no time to go toGermany and honor the sacrifices made by our brave Americans, I guess there were no apologies to be made so no sense in going huh obama?

I wish the culture of contempt that was instigated by Lee Atwater could be put back in the bottle. It has all sides in its grip sometimes. Divide and conquer. My hope is that people will grasp the underlying purpose in this manipulation and stop demonizing each other.

Hey, I thought only Nixon could go to China? Next thing you know the Repubs will whine, "Why is he going to China to represent us. We have a economic crisis, 2 wars, failing banks etc. He should be working on that before he goes anywhere." HELLOOOOO MARY HE'S OUR PRESIDENT!!!

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:31 PM on 11/09/2009

They are ALREADY whining...

Our present President is f&cked any which way he turns. He cannot do anything right to the righties - BECAUSE HE IS A 1/2 BLACK MAN who is not just cowering and saying 'yes, mas'r'!

Yes it's time to go begging China for more money.

I am glad you are aware what side your bread is buttered on. Be nice to China; as it keeps your economy and America's extravagant way of life going.
