Bill O'Reilly: 'We Can't Kill All The Muslims... So We Wanna Win As Many Hearts And Minds As We Can'

What's Your Reaction?

Bill O'Reilly believes that the US effort to win the popular support of Muslims around the world is based on the notion that the US cannot kill every single Muslim. There are roughly 1.3-1.5 billion followers of Islam worldwide.

O'Reilly brought this up during a discussion Tuesday evening about alleged Fort Hood gunman Nidal Hasan. The Fox News host was discussing the alleged attack with novelist and retired Lt. Col. Ralph Peters who was "outraged" that Obama did not refer to the attack as terrorism during his speech at Tuesday's memorial service.

I have to say as I scrolled down these posts on this page,I was heartened by the sentiment
that is in the majority here.Bravo!
I do have muslim friends and I have feared for their safety for sometime. The night I heard McCain
Tell that elderly woman,"No he's not a muslim,He's a good family man." As if being a muslim would
exclude some one from being a good family man.Now Quitter Pailin is in favor of "Profiling"
muslims in the the Armed Forces.
We must learn to live without Predjudice again. We can do it.

Yeah. Win hearts so we, what? Don't have to kill so many? That's what he said. Bill O'Reilly is a fool.

Fox, and Bill O, might win some hearts - albeit small ones - but minds? Don't think so.

blaming the Qu’ran for terrorism is like blaming the bible for the holocaust.

A shrewd and logical conclusion from Billo or as a massive breakdown in human compassion. I suspect the latter.

What does having all the Muslims gone mean why would that solve things not all of them are crazy and violent people. Just like all Christians are not violent loons, there are good people in both religions.
I still do not see this as a terrorist attack it was the actions of a disturbed individual.

it remains to be seen what motivated him.

And it would behoove us all to keep an open mind.

But so many people seem to be willing to reinforce the negative stereotype so many Muslims have of Americans.

With Bill O leading the charge.

O'Reilly- pull a Dobbs and go away.

Why on earth would anyone else want to kill a person based on faith alone? An individual like Bill is a disgrace to anyone of Irish heritage.

Behold G.W. Bush, the gift that keeps on giving (and the right wing talkingheads who cheered him on).

Running with a twisted gang of ideologues (who'd openly declared their intentions a decade earlier -- see: PNAC), Junior took a horrific CRIME involving, maybe, three dozen conspirators and financiers and, with all the finesse of an express trainwreck, overnight turned it into a war on a religion.

Unfortunately, his wrecking crew picked a religion observed by about 1.8 BILLION people worldwide!

Is there any surprise, with all of this thoughtful groundwork so carefully laid, that we now find ourselves in the logical knot of certain 'complications' in a military fielded by a nation that PROFESSES freedom of religion?

In his own special, unwitting fashion, Bill0 has managed to articulate this complex dilemma in just a couple of sentences... and he doesn't even have a clue what he said.

Everyone forgetting that when GW got us into this HE called it a Crusade?

IF America is gonna stay involved in Central Asia, then Obama's gotta learn that it's a Crusade or nothing!

LOL

I hope you are kidding.

Everyone please call the faith based groups who are defending people like this and scaring off votes for health care in God's name. today I was checking channels and heard the CTN channel constantly harping on how bad the HR bill is and asking folks to call (888) 947-9009 to sign a petition to stop the bill. Well I called and told them that they should be ashamed of using their faith to lie to the public. These people are with out guile.
The playing field is not level and there are hardly any outlets for those of us who are progressive in MSM.

Are they tax-exemopt as a religious organization? If so, they are violating their status with the IRS by preaching politics.

Such ignorance is so tiring. I have spent a LOT of time, months at a time, in Egypt on business, a lone American with blonde hair and blue eyes, walking around the streets of Cairo and Giza, feeling safer than in many places in America. Strangers stop me on the street, shake my hand and say 'Welcome to Egypt.' Often these are the only English words they know.

When in Egypt, I am welcomed into homes and fed until absolutely stuffed. I'm welcomed into mosques to pray and told, "It does not matter if you are not Muslim. We are honored that you pray with us. When you are in our mosque, you pray to your God. Praying here is all about your personal relationship with God."

As an American in a Muslim society, they spend time teaching me about their culture, take me to family gatherings, events and social clubs. Nights often pass into daylight with geopolitical conversation over coffee and tea.

The most significant thing I take away from my experiences in Muslim culture is love. It's the basis of their daily lives. Anyone who thinks Muslims are out to kill us is severely disinformed, ignorant and paranoid about a threat that does not exist. Shame on O'Reilly and Peters for their ignorance and fear mongering.

I am glad you have had the luxury of traveling abroad and meeting with other cultures. It is encouraging to hear of your warm welcome especially in Egypt. I certainly agree that a religion should not be judged. The person should be judged. Unfortunately the US of A is being targeted by Islamic Extremists. That being said Those of us that have a concern for our very lives at the hands of anyone wishing to harm Americans are ignorant is not fair. As for paranoid about a threat against us, well I think after 9-11 we have been looking over our shoulders. To not do so would be the ignorant thing to do. Regardless of who the attacker was/is. Unfortunately regarding this post. The folks attacking us lately have been of the Muslim faith. (Not the majority) That should set a few bells off. If not, then that would be ignorant. Keep in mind, I have no problem with folks or anyone's true religion, but a pattern is a looming here.

Actually, it would be far more accurate to say Muslim Fundamentalists are targeting their own societies.

What bin Ladin and his crew have in mind is a takeover of the Islamic world with government/religion determined by their flawed religious beliefs.

They have been uniquely unsuccessful to date, in any country not already torn by war. And are unlikely to gain power anywhere within the Muslim world because their plans are not only unworkable and unpopular. They are UnIslamic.

The attacks on Americans in Iraq and Afghanistan are different. Whether they are motivated by religion or anti colonialism is up to debate.

But you will find, if you make the simplest research, that far more Muslims particularly Shia Muslims have been killed in the struggle than Westerners of all nations.

It is not the West that is under attack by Fundamentalists. It is the Islamic world. Attacks on the West are peripheral to the struggle.

Virgina tech shooter was not Muslim, Timothy McVeigh was not Muslim. We just had a mass killer in Cleveland and I have not seen were they discribe him as Muslim. The kids who shot up the schools in Columbine, Jonesboro, Peducah and other locations where not muslim. The shooter for Holocaust museum was not a Muslim. How many work place shootings have happen? they were not done by Muslims.

Genius, shear genius.

With a mind like that we need to get Bill O working with the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

BTW: Why do so many folks think that people from the Muslim world don't here about these idiotic statements?

They do get cable all around the world.

Nothing like reinforcing the worst stereotypes about Americans.

Are we talking Republican hearts and minds? Is FOX really ready to do that? All of these subtle hints. Brier fact-checking Palin. Wallace telling O'Reiley that the public option is popular, sort of. Could the white house war on Fox be having an effect after all?
