What's Your Reaction?
Tracy Morgan

"Barack probably had Michelle in the window doggy-style. 'Yes, Mr. President, yes Mr. President,'" said Tracy Morgan Friday at Carnegie Hall, speculating on the first couple's sex life. The comedian and "30 Rock" star was performing as part of the New York Comedy Festival, but fans were not laughing as they walked out on Morgan's bawdy routine.

The Daily News, the first to report the story quotes a source saying: "There was a continuous flow of people getting up and leaving throughout the show." The paper said that middle-aged women were the most appalled, especially when Morgan started acting out sexual escapades on stage.

Those expecting the prime-time version of Morgan were shocked at his highly sexual humor: "You gotta stick your tongue in her f**king butthole...It's give and take. If she gagging, you got to toss the salad."

One of our readers who walked out wrote to us saying, "I'm an aspiring standup and I went to the show cause I love Tracy on SNL, 30 Rock, etc. To call it a disappointment would be THE understatement of the century...This was his joke, I kid you not, 'I bought my wife a glass coffee table so she could shit on it and I could watch from beneath it.' Um, is that funny? No. It was bad and kinda sad."

But not everyone was offended, not even close. "The audience members around me were mostly in their 20's and 30's and were enjoying the raunchiness," blogger Matt Wilstein told the Huffington Post. "It may have been because we expected it from Tracy Morgan after watching his semi-obscene, drunken morning show appearances on YouTube."

My wife and I saw Tracy's stand-up in Richmond, VA a few years ago--half the audience left, and the other half squirmed in their seats as he discussed "playing rape" with this wife, tossing salad,... more >>

Eh, not offended so much as I've been bored with those kinda jokes since I was about 10. Poo jokes, regardless of context, are only so funny. Even poo on glass tables.

But walking out of a comedy show because someone is talking about poo/scat? That is at least mildly funny.

I just don't find humour like this particularly engaging either....Bill Hicks? Richard Pryor? Dylan Moran, Chris Rock, George Carlin......strictly speaking on the level of comedy, I still think all of these gentlemen are just plain funnier. So was Robin Williams back when he did drugs. (Sorry but he never was the same once he cleaned up, though I'm glad he managed it.)

Richard Pryor certainly was controversial in his day, and as someone above said, there's not just the issue of a joke's flammability, but of it's sophistication. Bill Hicks offended plenty of people, but not with fecal matter. He offended because he held a big fat flashlight up on everything that was ludicrous, and kept it there while people squirmed in their chairs. (and it was fab.)

Funny is subjective though, so to each his own. :P

You think Arsenio Hall is funny? I think he is the most boring and predictable person on television. Have you watched that video show that he hosts?

Agreed - he's just too "Prime time" funny for me (but then I can't stand Jay Leno either).

Their humour reminds me of those bland "work safe" cartoons that are never funny.

This has been common practice at Tracy Morgan shows since he started playing. I saw him in Philadelphia years ago, when 30 Rock had just started, and it was exactly the same. I think people went to his show expecting 30 Rock humor and got the genuine Tracy Morgan on stage - not the whacky character he plays on TV.

I am no fan of Tracy Morgan. He was not really all that funny to me on SNL.

He went to vee-ET-NAAM! Y'all must have never seen his stand up before, or just wish he played Tracy Jordan. Which is just a joke and not really him. As Danny Devito once said, "Poop is funny."

Well what were these people thinking when going to a Tracy Morgan show? A tea party? C'mon, Tracy's had some great characters over the years at SNL. Astronaut Jones, Brian Fellow, Maya Angelou...the man is funny. Crude is what he does in stand-up. Geesh, you were expecting CarrotTop?

One of the stupidest SNL skits of all time.

He's not funny. Playing the dumb black stereotype is not funny and outdated.
As for the scatalogical humor, he's needs take that material and flush it down the toilet.
