A Twitter user who runs the account "ShitMyDadSays" has just landed a deal to take his Tweets to TV.

CBS has decided to create a comedy project based on the Twitter account, which is run by 28-year-old Justin Halpern.

Halpern moved back in with his parents in San Diego and started the account shortly after. "ShitMyDadSays" is pretty much what it sounds like: it consists of Halpern Tweeting out the funny, off-color, and usually profane things that his 73-year-old dad says.

The quotes are hilarious, offensive, uncensored, and uncut. ShitMyDadSays was ranked one of the 10 funniest Twitterers on the web. Read the Tweets below!

"ShitMyDadSays" has over 700,000 followers and, in addition to the CBS deal, recently landed a book contract.

The Live Feed reports:

"Will & Grace" creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick are on board to executive produce and supervise the writing for the multicamera family comedy, which Halpern will co-pen with Patrick Schumacker. Halpern and Schumacker will also co-exec produce the Warner Bros. TV-produced project, which has received a script commitment.

The dad's 73, the kid's 28. Been there. When I was 5, I was raised by my grandparents, who were in their 60's. This was in the '60's. They were still in the "do you think cars are a good idea?" mindset. If our phone rang once a week, it was twice too many. Now I'm 50, and I know how they must have felt. That was way too many characters for the twitter-tweet, right? Some of the dad's comments were fart-tacular. Too bad Peter Boyle died, he would be perfect as the dad. Maybe Ashton Kutcher as the son?

Hilarious. But I'm betting the guy is a fake, in that he writing the stuff himself, rather than having a mysterious father who used to work in some kind of secretive medicine and doesn't want to give interviews, ever. But good for the guy, you have to be creative these days when getting yourself noticed.

Oh I love the cynics and comic geniuses who condemn this young man's project to failure based solely on the headline of a news story. What? oh you actually read some of the tweets? Oh, ok, you're right then. I also love how someone can say that his 15 min are over when they haven't even started yet. I whole-heartedly support this young man and the opportunity his life has presented to him. To suggest otherwise would be thinly veiled jealousy.

I don't blame this guy for milking his 15 minutes of fame for all its worth. It's the people paying him that are loony. This show will be pulled before the 4th episode.

What I want to know is: why isn't it Halpern's father that is making all the money???

700,000 followers and only 72 tweets? That's almost 10,000 followers per tweet. I'm throwing up the Bu!!5hit flag on this one.
