Both my mother and uncle were bi polar. 2 years ago my bi polar husband of 28 years killed himself. He was in treatment and on 8 different meds. And after 28 years of too many shrinks and meds, none were working..He was un helpable. I have come to terms with that

There is no one size fits all for treatment. He tried so many things I've lost track. All out of pocket because insurance companies only want to pay for drugs.

There may be environmental triggers That might account for you. I'm no Dr. But every single bi polar I know has a family history of the disease.
