China has big economic plans and ambitions in Africa that go beyond oil and minerals. While much of the world still views Africa as a basket-case continent, Beijing is thinking ahead and busy establishing a foothold in Africa's potentially large consumer markets.

Since health care costs are used as "reason" why so many companies want to hire temps without benefits, why arn't they on the bandwagon for a "public option"?

As I say on my blog about the Chinese stimulus at www.ProudlyMadeInAmerica.com, the Chinese are going to use our money to take over manufactur­ing/develo­pment/etc. Their stimulus is a clear example of the SOP. They pump money into steel production, now accounting for almost 60% of world production. They are producing steel at an all time high when the world is in recession. They dump the steel on the world markets, thus forcing weaker companies out. I want to point out that without the dumping of steel, many of the companies that are going bankrupt would be able to hang on. When the economy picks up, only China has the capacity and economy of scale to compete in the marketplace. Then they move to the next industry.

Every time you buy a MADE IN CHINA products over MADE IN USA products you are helping the Chinese government in their plan. There are plenty of high quality Made in USA items that you can buy. It is getting harder, but you can still find domestically made socks. If everyone just spends $5 more a month on USA made items we would reduce unemployment, reduce our deficit, and improve our standard of living. JUST DO IT.

The Chinese are buying metals, preparing to accumulate the necessary resources to manufacture for their own consumers as well as the export markets.

They have the money to do it and they have the leverage via their status as a creditor nation.

I do buy locally. I make a conscious effort to do so.

Not much is created locally. Also, I always try to buy from locally-owned businesses.

We have fed the commie gremlins with water and food until they grew large and powerful. But inside they are still commies who won't stop of nothing to gain global power. How sad we did it because we were greedy for cheap imports at big boxes
