Der Spiegel:

When US President Barack Obama visits China this weekend, he will encounter a rival that sees the financial crisis as more of an opportunity than a threat. America, on the other hand, has been fundamentally weakened by the global crunch -- and is more dependent on the goodwill of the rising superpower than ever.

Actually, China holds a lot of IOU's that, if they are not nice, we can ignore.

Perhaps if Bush and the Republicans hadn't borrowed the billions if not trillions of dollars to fund the wars in Iraq and Afganastan, we wouldn't be as obliged to China as we are now. This issue needs to be thrown back into the Republicans laps asap and daily. The MSM also needs to report more on this, and place the blame where it is due!!!!!

Sigh....I think I should have moved to China a long, long time ago; it was once suggested to me.

I don't see how anybody in our government could have objected on the basis of what I once did or the clearances that I once had, seeing as how even if I were of the mindset to sell my nation out there is no way I could have done it fast enough to beat our corporations and our Republican and Democratic neoliberal politicians to it.

Present day reality makes that self-evident.

And I LIKE Asian food, and on average I have met far, far fewer people in any city, town, or village in Asia that I did not like than I have among the same number of Americans in this country.

lolll...being polite...counts.

And I would have been in a nation where the few are not permitted to sell the country out in their greed...

Which also means something, to a veteran.

Remember back in the days when we accused China of Human Rights violations.
Ha! Ha! Ha! those were the days my friends.
But of course you can't say things like that to your banker.

Yesterday the headline read "Is China Headed Towards Collapse"; now, this one.

All these twists and turns...it's just like a soap opera...

China has inserted itself into the world economy by black mailing the United States, probably beginning with Nix.

The Peoples Republic of China didn't black mail the United States. The corporations of the US gladly sent most of our manufacturing to communist China. And, you are right it did start under President Nixon’s administration. They wanted cheap labor and they got it. Now the country has a military that is bought and paid for by consumers in the US.
What is going to happen next? Well the way I see it is communist China is going to invade Twain. The US is obligated under treaty to go to Twain’s defense. That is going to be a very long war, which the US is going to have a hard time winning. It is hard to win a war when your enemy builds your war products. Think I am kidding? Google the Pentagon and read what they think about red China.
