Super Mario's not so super anymore.

Cops are searching for four men -- two of them dressed as Super Mario and his green-clad brother Luigi -- caught on tape beating and robbing a cab driver on Staten Island.

Police say the trouble started when one of the criminal characters tried stealing money out of the driver's pocket around 4 a.m. on November 1st.

The cab driver pulled over at a gas station and asked the men to pay and leave. Instead the men assaulted him and wrenched away his cash.

A third man dressed in a tuxedo reportedly acted as a lookout as the plumbers got physical with the cabbie.

Anyone who recognizes the "brothers" or has any information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS or log onto www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.

That's why I carry my piece with me at all time. I won't hesitate to use it and if I terminate their lives so be it. I will go home and have a sandwich. BTW! I am a business owner who carry a lot of cash.

You are heartless. So you're equating their lives to the measly amount of money you carry?

Even if they're criminals, they're human beings. I suggest you reevaluate the meaning of life.

I wouldn't say he is heartless. I wouldn't want to kill anyone until I felt my life/safety was in danger, but in this case, if I had a weapon (I would prefer a taser) I would brandish it. If it didn't cause them to leave I would use it... warning shot first then if that doesn't work you aim for a leg/limb. Cops should be coming soon.

The downside to having a gun is that it increases the chances of it being used against you (and you using it on someone else). But, in my opinion, you are entitled to at least protect yourself with a weapon that can deter a thief or assailant. And I again recommend (if your state allows) buying a taser or stun gun of some sort over a gun. That way you minimize the chance for loss of life and increase your ability to protect yourself.

A baseball bat is also a great option =D

In fact, I have a happy ending story of how my bat saved two of my friends from being robbed. The thief was walking away from my with two of my lady friends purses and apparently the same thief had noticed my bat but decided to put it down on the sidewalk and walk away with the handful of purses. A heroic couple noticed said thief. The male citizen grabbed my bat from the ground while the female citizen called 911. The thief returned the purses without the guy having to swing the bat. He just threatened and that was enough. Needless to say, me and my lady friends I bought that couple as many drinks as they wanted that night at the local bar.

What kind of sandwich are you having today? If you have so much money, why not just go to a restaurant nearby instead of going all the way home? I hope I'm wring, but I suspect that you are just trying to impress the ladies.

Got so distracted about the thought of a nice sandwich that I misspelled 'wrong'!

Could be my mistake- but I looked this article over several times, and Staten Island was not mentioned in the text. Looks like the article has since been updated.

The link in the 2nd sentence takes you to a news story by WPIX where they mention Staten Island as the location. HP also didn't mention in the article that it took place on Halloween night (4AM on 11/1 if you want to get picky) but used "halloween" as a keyword. Likely the use of keywords that aren't in the article is simply a way of making an article easier to find w/o adding unnecessary bulk to the article.

As hilarious as this is, I'm struck by the fact that nowhere in this article is the location of the robbery mentioned. "Staten Island" is listed as a keyword above, but there is NO MENTION of WHERE this happened in this actual text of this piece, which is supposedly a news article. Lowering standards to those that wouldn't even be accepted by a junior high newspaper. Low, H./P. Truly, truly low.
