Noah Biorkman, 5-Year-Old Dying Of Cancer, Celebrates Christmas Early

First Posted: 03/18/10 06:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 03:40 PM ET

Noah Biorkman celebrated Christmas early this year. Last weekend, the 5-year-old, who is in the final stages of Neuroblastoma cancer, celebrated the holiday with his family. They believe that December will come too late for the little boy and put out a call to family and friends to send Christmas cards early this year, so that the boy would have a chance to open them, CNN reports.

The family's mailbox has since been flooded with Christmas cards to Noah and gifts from strangers around the world hoping to make Noah's last Christmas an extra-special one:

A follow-up letter from Noah's mother, posted on Snopes.com and Daily Kos this week, thanks respondents for the overwhelming flood of cards and gifts, but asked people to refrain from sending more gifts, as the family already celebrated Christmas.

The letter reads:

Wow!! Thanks! Please STOP!!!!

Wow! The outpouring of love and concern for Noah is just amazing! Scott and I never in a million years thought that so many people would want to send Christmas cards to Noah. However, please note: We did already celebrate Christmas LAST Sunday -- November 8th.

PLEASE STOP SENDING CARDS AND GIFTS!!!!

Noah is very ill. He is not getting out of bed and it's time for Scott, our families, and I to concentrate on our son. His time is very short and he needs us.

Scott and I would like to say thank you so much for the support and continued show of love. However, we are asking that everyone please stop sending cards and gifts.

Also, everyone please post the stop order on Facebook and any other websites or organizations that you belong to. We need the peace right now.

Thank you for your understanding in this request.

To Robert Sidonio Jr. " Believe me if Neuroblastoma had a better cure we would use it."
As a physician you need to do some research. The hospitals and doctors and big
pharma don't want to use anything but chemo and radiation. It's a money making
machine for them. Have you ever heard of Dr. S. Burzynski? He has cured babies and
adults of brain tumors and much more. They have gone to his clinic in Texas after
being told to go home and die, we can't help you anymore. He uses antineoplastons
which are natural compounds, etc. Susan Summers has a book that came out about
3 weeks ago, you need to pick up a copy and learn what true healers are trying to do.
It's called Knockout a great read. Wish it had come out before my beautful, caring
sister-inlaw died from not only the cancer but the chemo which kills all your good cells
with the bad. To this family I pray you can get some money together and go see Dr.
Burzynski he will tell you the truth if he feels he can help your little one.
God Bless your family.

Z2a, Don't dissect the words of parents who are losing their small son to a terrible disease. Imagine being someone in that state of emotion. I find no flaws here except your reaction.

Just from a purely warped analytical perspective... is it just me that finds the letter posted by the family asking for donations to stop strange ( pronounced \ˈstronjay\ )? I would think that if a family was about to lose a child, no amount would be 'too much'. Especially when one would automatically think those items w/could be donated in his honor to those that would benefit from them. Second, they wanted cards. Now inherently this wouldn't be such a big deal. But when one dares to think, naturally those affected by the story wouldn't just send a card without adding a little somethin-somethin in there. I would think asking for a card would be better than asking for money right out. I won't even getting into the tone and tenor.

If this is a REAL story and not some L&O episode in-the-making, balloon boy story, God be with you. If not, ...

Really sad story. Parents shroud not see there kids dying before them. That not suppose to happen.
I just hope that they can find any remedy that could help that kid.

Few month back I found an article about some herbal treatment that in some cases can cure, extend life or at list alleviated some symptoms of cancer. The herbal treatment is made from twigs of US native tree - PawPaw. Dr. Jerry McLaughlin in Purdue University in Lafayette did research for 34 years analyzing the property of that tree. He found that PawPaw contain powerful acetogenins that suppress enormous metabolism of cancer cell (17 time higher than the normal cell) and help chemotherapy patients to fight off the cancer. Here some link about that herb.

Some herbal store sell this product and it is really cheap.
May be this herb could give the kid real Christmas for this year and may for a couple more.

I was not even aware what kind of cancer it is. I check on wikipedia- shocking: annually in US there is around 650 cases Neuroblastoma - one of the most common cancer in kids, especially infants.

I am from Detroit as is this darling little boy. It is such a sad story but the family is resigned to the fact and have accepted it. Noah has too and it is so precious.

I lost my son in July of 2008 from complications from open heart surgery. He was 19 when he passed and although we knew there was a chance of him not surviving, as optimists we never really thought that it would happen. His death was sudden and we weren't prepared for it. We were devastated and as I write this tears are in my eyes.

I hope my son Nick will meet Noah in heaven and show him the ropes.

Thank you Sunro. It is never easy loosing a child.

My brother died when I was 13 and I saw the toll it took on my parents. Not sure if they ever recovered. Nobody did grief counseling back then which my wife an I did. It helped a lot!

I am so sorry for your loss. It's a pretty lame sentence but I know of no better way to convey my sympathies for the pain you went and are still going through. It's been 13 years since I lost my baby and I still feel that hurt. Like you I believe that they are in heaven and watching over us. God bless them all.

It's not fair, Noah. You're a brave boy. :-(

Few things as sobering as taking a walk through a pediatric cancer ward.

My niece died in an accident at five and one of my dearest friends lost her three year old son to neuroblastoma. All I can say is how sorry I am about your family is going through. My you treasure the gift that is Noah and what he brought to you lives.

The story however sad does remind me that there is a sense of humanity still out there. The abundance of gifts that you don't know what to do with, should go to other children in the hospital. Volunteering at a Cancer Hospital, I know how the children love having something to keep their minds off why they are there. They are sooooo brave!

God bless.
