Iphone App

foxnews.com:

A conservative filmmaker in Hollywood thought he had developed a worthwhile iPhone app: a telephone directory listing every U.S. senator and congressman, with caricatures of the legislators drawn by an artist.

But Apple apparently didn't see the value, and the computer behemoth said a cartoon drawing of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was part of the reason why.

This is one of the reasons why I won't get an iPhone. Apple's heavyhanded and seemingly arbitrary approach to which apps get approval has me looking elsewhere.
Another_doozy is Apple's ability to remotely shut down apps it decides it no longer wants to run.

Frightening!!

But Apple was for the Mein Kampf app before they were against it. And they did not come out against it util the press got hold of this travesty. I don't know why they even allowed it to get there in the first place. The censors take a bribe?

It would be interesting to see if all of the politicians were portrayed equally as ugly. But if the maker of the app was smart he would just use the official photos of everyone and forget the joking cartoon pics. He should submit the photos to the politicians and see if they approve of his photo of them. This would be fair to all if he is actually really interested in selling his app and not trying to play politics by portraying people in a negative light.

So (1) that's a pretty ugly caricature. It would be interesting to compare it to some of the others.

(2) I suppose it would be too much to expect that the "artist" would include the fact that Pelosi is Speaker of the House.

Actually, I think this could be a useful app but the drawings could be offensive to some people that have no sense of humor where politics are involved. If they really want to sell the app, rethink the drawings and resubmit it.

One of my favorite apps on my phone is "Manual for the United States". It costs $.99 an has all the major documents of the country. It comes in handy when the pols start spouting off about violations of constitutional amendments. I can just whip out my phone and read the admendments. The states are all listed with elected officials. Maybe next update they will provide web site links.

Like many honest, successful, socially responsible corporations, Apple promotes decidedly liberal and environmentally policies. They also joined with Microsoft in withdrawing from the Chamber of Commerce for their opposition to health care reform.
