I couldn't believe it when i came across this page. It's idea and collection of content are lifted directly from mentalfloss.com, published a few days ago:
http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/40324
I stumbled upon it and have sent the link to several people and groups and wasn't quite so astonished to find it here as I was by the fact that you go out of your way to make it seem like you've compiled these videos (by saying "send us more" you directly imply these videos have been sent to you.)
Granted, it is a collection of youtube videos (and heart-warming ones at that) and mentalfloss has no claim to them. But you'd think an online publication with aspirations as big as HP's are would at least have the ethical standards to throw a link out to where your page came from, that's pretty standard etiquette - providing a "via: " link.
The worst thing is that you even copied the exact order of videos from mentalfloss.com. To be fair, the author of the mentalfloss.com page doesn't claim to have compiled the videos, and would be guilty of the same ethical breach as you are by not linking to the compiler. However, while he could possibly be guilty of that, you DEFINITELY are, as the mentalfloss.com page was dated Nov. 10.
And to the author - don't bother moderating my comment, I'm cc'ing it to HP, I'm a stickler for ethics in journalism.
i hate people who hate hyper dogs
the first one is the best, sitting in his lap, but all the 'daddy' references weird me out...
Lots of folks refer to their dogs like children. it's not a big deal.
that doesn't make it any less weird to me... I get the emotional attachment, one of the family. Had a dog half of my life, loved her to pieces - never ever refered to her as my child, or to myself as her mother. She was still a dog...
my sister's dog knows me as "auntie"; and "g" is my furry niece
I was in the hospital once for nine days, when I came home, as I was getting out of the car my Rotty was going to bark, just as the bark was coming out of his mouth he saw it was me, my baby didnt leave my side for 3 weeks. I miss him. This made me cry with joy. Welcome home brave soldiers. Your four legged babies missed you, too.
I teared up too. (And like you I miss my own somebody, never so much as when someone talks about their buddy they miss, or in watching a video like this one. Having a dog love you is one of the most special feelings a person can ever enjoy.)
I'm glad he's home. I'm glad Gracie was there to wiggle herself silly at the sight of him.
Dogs are so great - unconditional love. Old Joke -- Want to know who loves you more? Lock you dog and spouse in the trunk of your car for a few hours, open and see whose happy to see you.
ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and local cops will be happy to see for locking up a human and a dog in the trunk.
Thanks for posting these videos.
I often wondered about how pets view a beloved owner's prolonged absence. Since you cannot explain where these people went or how long they'll be gone, I imagine that the dogs come to believe that the person is dead.
By their very nature they never stop demonstrating how devoted they are to you, and neither do dogs.
This was a wonderful post. Bless our troops, their families and their pets.
Wonderful clips! I love dogs, but it is especially heart-warming to see military coming home and greeted by these beautiful loving creatures without hesitation.
I'm fortunate to have rescued two 100-lb retrievers...a loving Golden and a goofy Lab. They are joyful. Every single time I arrive home, park in our garage, then close the garage door, spouse and both dogs come out and greet me at my car door...smiles and love abound. Every single time no matter what is going on in our lives or the world...home from work, shopping, meetings, I'm greeted by three lovely beings.
Life can be very good.
When I return home after the worst day possible, my Westie "Shelby" is always there to greet me with a smile and a wagging tail. Lifts my spirit completely!!!
I don't trust people who don't like animals.
"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened." - Anatole France
Beautiful. There's nothing like a dog.
I really can't stand it that in S. Korea they're pondering reclassifying dogs as "livestock" so they can be eaten out in the open, rather than at many, many restaurants in spite of the laws. Completely foul, imho.
