This is wrong. Nice and bite-sized, though, so don't let 'em out of the house...

I wonder how many of them will be extinct within the next 10 years.

Teacup pigs are a lie. Most of these pigs will weigh 100 lbs or more when grown. Please do not promulgate these lies as they result in many pigs being abandoned when they exceed size expectations. The pigs pictured are only a couple of weeks old.

It's a different breed. They top out at around 60 pounds.

I agree it's wrong pretend they are going to be tiny their whole life, but that breed doesn't reach 100 pounds.

I have two rescued potbelly pigs as pets, and am involved in the rescue community. I'm in a position to know the truth, and the truth is, a few of these pigs will top out at 60 pounds, most of them will get bigger. Pigs continue to grow through their 4th year of life, and frequently the "parents" that are presented are still only a quarter- to half-grown themselves.

Oh great, promote these little animals as pets - "fit in your palm" - some of whom are wild and really shouldn't be pets - and there will be an influx of pocket pets adding to the multiple millions of domestic ones kil led in shelters every year.
