Darryl Bain Is Twice Zapped With Stun Gun At Mother's Home, Dies

CORAM, N.Y. — Police say a man who had locked himself and his mother in her Long Island home died after he tussled with officers and was zapped twice with a stun gun.

Police say they're investigating the early Saturday death of 43-year-old Darryl Bain in Coram (KOHR'-um), about 50 miles east of New York City.

They say Bain's brother called 911 alleging Bain was high on cocaine and had shut himself in the house with their 78-year-old mother, who had an order of protection.

Police say three officers heard a struggle inside and entered the house and fought with Bain, who was temporarily stunned after being shot with a Taser.

Police tell the Newsday newspaper he continued to struggle as they handcuffed him and he was Tasered again before dying.

The medical examiner's office will determine his cause of death.

They should be outlawed, because it was only a matter of time before they killed someone. They are electrocuting people with low levels of electricity. Anyone with a heart condition could drop dead. Being high on cocaine does not mitigate this at all. The cops effectively killed this guy.

Man, some of you cop haters are unbelievable. A healthy, midaged man does not die from two tazer zaps. My bet the coroner will decide its cocaine/tazer induced heart failure. If the account is accurate, the officer should be fired for applying the tazer after the perp was handcuffed. Or once again, another police department screws up on their tazer training.
