Gary Ginsberg

News Corp Executive VP of Global marketing and Corporate Affairs Gary Ginsberg will be leaving News Corp at the end of the year, the company announced Monday.

"Gary has been one of my most trusted and effective executives over the past decade," Rupert Murdoch said in a statement. "He developed and expertly managed our corporate affairs efforts, spearheaded initiatives that added significant value to our businesses, and is as well-liked and respected a colleague as any in our company. As difficult as it was to accept his decision to leave, I am pleased he has agreed to continue to serve as an advisor."

"This has been the experience of a lifetime and I will always be grateful to Rupert for the many opportunities he's given me over the years," Ginsberg said. "It was a difficult decision to leave a company that has been such a vital part of my life and I'll miss the many talented colleagues who have helped make this such a thrilling and fascinating ride. But I've been thinking about leaving for a while now to pursue something new, and this seemed like the right time to do it."

Ginsberg, who will remain a consultant to Murdoch, will be replaced by two executives: Teri Everett will become the head of corporate communications and corporate social responsibility, while Reed Nolte will oversee investor relations.

The New York Times's Tim Arango reports that Ginsberg has served as Murdoch's liaison to the Democratic party:

In 2002, Mr. Ginsberg arranged a lunch between Mr. Clinton and Mr. Murdoch in Harlem, which was followed the next year with a tour of the newsroom of The New York Post, one of News Corporation's properties. The flirtation eventually led to The Post endorsing Hillary Clinton for Senate in 2006, the same year that Mr. Murdoch held a fund-raiser for Senator Clinton at News Corporation's New York headquarters.

That relationship has since fractured, however, and efforts by Mr. Ginsberg to broker close ties between Mr. Murdoch and President Obama, which led to a meeting last year before the election, did not result in an endorsement. (The Post endorsed Senator John McCain for president.)

I hope liberals remember this article and all of your comments everytime they say we must be fair, play by the rules and not stoop to their level.

Here is a guy single handedly doing as much harm to America as the t-ists and fair play minded liberals want to make sure THEY are not viewed as overly partisan or harsh towarsds him or his empire.

I understand Dunn's position was temporary, but her strategy should have been permanent.

Think about it; other than KO or RM on MSNBC and a scattering of liberal radio talk show hosts, what does the left have to counter this guy?

And please don't tell me it is the fact that you can sleep well at night knowing you are non-partisan, fair and above the fray.

Clinton may have caved to Murdoch's machine, but I hope Obama continues to hold his ground. Any television network or print publication owned by Rupert Murdoch is not worth an ounce of the president's time, and it should continue to call FOX News out on any vicious, race-baiting, and downright blatant mistruths that they throw at him, at least until Murdoch calls off his opinion-driven attack dogs.

I live in the UK, and I can attest to the fact that Murdoch is mounting the same offensive towards liberal-leaning parties here too. He is a major media stake-holder in the US, UK, and Australia, countries that have demonstrated a trend towards conservatism in the last couple decades, especially since Murdoch came to power and began buying up all of the media outlets. Recently, he purchased DOW Jones, the Wall Street Journal, and launched the FOX Business Channel.

Given the opportunity, I have no doubt that Murdoch would buy up every power-wielding institution in the world, granting his corporation the ability to control the message whenever, wherever, and however he wishes. At that point, no world leader or president will be able to stand up to his influence, which is precisely why the White House is taking a stand. They announced that they would speak truth to power, and they weren't just talking to FOX News. They were talking to Murdoch, because they understand exactly how much power he possesses, nationally and globally.

continued ...

Murdoch said something in a recent interview on Sky News, which he owns, that should have thrown up a glaring red flag to anybody watching. Referring to the "perception" that voters in the recent VA and NJ gubernatorial elections were expressing displeasure with the Obama administration for fostering an anti-business atmosphere, he stated, "It's a perception. I'm not saying it's a correct perception, but it is a general perception, which in itself becomes a fact."

And there's the rub, straight from the horse's mouth. It's a statement that demonstrates perfectly Murdoch's personal philosophy, which says that all someone has to do in order to make something a fact is control perception. With enough outlets that control the flow of information, Murdoch will have absolutely no problem controlling perception and, therefore, manufacturing facts, until his agenda infiltrates the minds of every formerly free-thinking individual in the world.

Scary isn't it...and most people do not see the huge network Murdoch has created internationally, which affects and influences so much locally.

Hhm and Shep Smith issued an apology for his apology today. Seems Fox is purging anything that is even remotely Liberal from it's HQ.

Much as I like what Smith does directing it at a coworker is bad form, let her run the interview ask about the other candidate and maybe see what you can do to get her an interview with him as well.

I'm starting to see more clearly now. So they met and President Obama would not kiss his behind, so Murdoch decided to try and destroy his administration.

They don't get it. The same with Edwards wanting a guaranteed job if Obama won, to endorse him in the election. As Plouffe can say, forget about it, Obama don't do that kind of deals.
I wish Gary Ginsberg the best of luck in his career.

It's what they do. Like oil companies with commercials about being a friend to nature. Doesn't matter which mega corporation...if you see a positive message from a mega corporation, ask yourself what the real agenda and goal is for the commercial.

I have a wish list that includes creating multi media outlets, that kind of run like local newspapers and stations, used to be, so that we could get clear, concise and ABOVE ALL FACTUAL information. If one person is running all the media isn't that similar to state sponsored and censored info? What is the difference?

And the question remains why did they need a liason to Democrats?

Since they never treat anyone that isn't a Republican fairly, what was the point of having one?

They didn't make clear whether or not the liason was a Republican or a Democrat acting as the liason.

The guy may have just been fed up but won't say so publicly.

Fox news admits they editorialize the news and with the recent Daily Show pointing out that Fox used false footage to slant a story I wonder how much false footage is presented daily that isn't pointed out.

Editorialized news isn't news, and only doing positive stories about Republicans is getting old.

8 years of Bush they got away with it and are still trying but with Republicans voting no on everything with no ideas an no plans other than to complain and cry "more tax cuts for the rich" or let's "take away everyone's right to sue" there isn't much to actually report.

You could put across the Fox ticker "Republicans voted no on......" every day and Fox never calls out Republicans for taking the teabaggers tax dollars for a salary to do nothing but vote no.

Is there any more about Murdoch's organization being accused of trying to become a political party in England/Europe? American media needs to stop being so myopic on this.

Murdoch is shedding all remnants of the liberal side of ideology. This is an ongoing project that includes the dumping of Alan Colmes, and Dr. Marc Lamont Hill. He doesn't want any representation of ideas that are inconsistent with his own right-wing bias.
