WASHINGTON (Associated Press) -- The former mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, says putting suspected Sept. 11 terrorists on trial in New York City places residents there at unnecessary risk.

Giuliani tells CNN's "State of the Union" that a more appropriate choice would be military tribunals for the terror suspects. He says that option recognizes that the U.S. is at war with Islamic terrorists.

Giuliani was mayor of New York when terrorists attacked the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Attorney General Eric Holder says he decided to bring the suspects to trial in New York because of the nature of the undisclosed evidence against them, because the 9/11 victims were mostly civilians, and because the attacks took place on U.S. soil.

Yet you put all 3,000+ New Yorkers at risk September 11, 2001 but you're not exactly talking about that Mr or shall I say Ms Fooliani. Weren't you the same one that was wearing a dress a couple years ago, you joke?

It puts Rushpublicans at risk. Its puts them on trial as well as torture policies of Bush/Cheney will be in the news for 2010 and 2012, making in more likely Bush/Cheney will get what they deserve. They are fearmongering cowards as is the Rushpublicans. Do anything, write anyone to destroy the cowards of America, the Rushpubicans, who deserve no quarter.

Recall Giuliani said, "I told him 'If you can catch this guy bin Laden, I would like to be the one to execute him'.

Getting KSM probably is the next best thing to OBL, maybe better when it comes to 911 retribution.
Well Rudy, I'm waiting and hoping you would step up and demand that you get to be the one to execute KSM! Or, have you misplaced your passion for justice since playing politics against Obama?

Bipolar Rudy strikes again. Rudy, who was called as a witness in the trial of Moussaoui and applauded the America legal system now says that putting KSM on trial in New York is a really, really bad idea? Here's what Rudy said after he testified in the 2006 trial...

"At the same time, I was in awe of our system," the former mayor continued. "It does demonstrate that we can give people a fair trial, that we are exactly what we say we are. We are a nation of law. . . . I think he's going to be a symbol of American justice."

All you bold outspoken supporters of this action to give this American enemy the rights of a citizen, how many of you would volunteer to be on the jury? You are all talk, and no action. I bet none of you would have the guts to serve on this jury. I can tell you honestly I would do everything I could legally do to get excused. This man does not deserve the rights of a US citizen. He deserves a military court, nothing more. Its appalling. I think you argue just to hear yourself argue. I have a hard time believing a US citizen would be willing to give KSM a right to our courts.

Err.. your complaint was that no one would have the guts to serve on the jury. Then you said that you yourself would find every legal way possible to not be a member of the jury panel. I think you are projecting your emotions and views on other U.S. citizens. I would have no problem serving on this jury. I believe that despite the plethora of systematic injustices inherent in our justice system that we should still have faith in the process - we fulfill one of our many duties as a citizen by being a juror. I would love nothing more than to exercise my right as a citizen by voting in favor of this creature's guilt.

What does being a US citizen have to do with it? You may want to read up on the 14th amendment.

Why does he deserve a military court? He wasn't arrested on the battlefield, hell, he wasn't even arrested by American forces. The Pakistani IPI arrested him and turned him over. Sounds like a civil matter to me.

OMG: It have become more and more obvious that Republicans (including Rudy) are not only cowards, they are just un-American. The more they open their mouths, the more it shows.

I second that. Watching tv tonight, it occurred to me that I can't recall, in modern times, a bigger D*****bag. He truly is a giant among giants.

A nice illustration of one of the most destructive practices of journalism today: On every topic, they run to partisan politicians and commentators for substantive analysis. Of course Giuliani is going to try to discredit the decision, whatever the decision. There are so many substantive angles that could be explored here -- legal, precedential, security and political -- and so many informed, thoughtful, nonpartisan experts. But they go to Giuliani? Why bother? We could all write the script ourselves.

What a dishonest, fear-mongering hypocrite. I'm surprised that so many of my fellow NYers believe the republican hype.

Man-up NY.
