FL you look great in both outfits and many of the HP Style session commenters have not improved but declined as I suspected!

Thank you for wearing what you like and your style has influenced the run way and what is in the stores and magazine. I love it!

Why can't SOMEBODY (Oprah, Mama Robinson, Valerie Jarrett, Hello?!) tell the FLOTUS to drop the little sweaters and big belts and dress like she used to? It's not too late. I love, love, love her, but not her affair with J. Crew and the like.

I'm coveting the argyle sweater and skirt, WITH the violet knit top. Now, that would have been niiiiiice,, jazzy coordination. Unfortunately, she couldn't pull-it-off, correction, put-it-on, correctly.

The sweater and pants are nice but the belt (which I also like) makes the whole outfit too busy. I can see she has a nice small waist, but is there not some way that her belts could be repositioned so that they actually sit on her waist instead of higher? I personally have lost 25 pounds and now have a smaller waist myself. I have discovered that belts are a smashing accent for it, assuming they are actually placed at the waist.

i think if mo wore the grey argyle sweater with the belt with grey slacks it would have looked better. she has the belt a little higher on the waist, then the bottom of the sweater which cuts her at the hips then the black slacks so it chops her up. it is not a flattering look. it would be much more slimming to dress in the same color all the way down.

But katieandtom, she doesn't NEED to be more "slimming". I'm no fan of the belts, but I don't see anything wrong with her healthy figure, in whatever she decides to wear.

Some folks really need to give it a rest. @ The person who is soooo concerned over MO's "mental state", where do you get your information, Faux News? Please stop blurting out your imagined ideas about people, if you have a credible source of information, please include it in your postings, instead of just putting your negativity out there for everyone to feel.

@ The person complaining about the fit of the sweater, there is nothing wrong with the fit. Again, everything does not have to fit like a burlap sack. There is a difference between tight and fitted, aquaint yourself with it.

Finally @ those complaining about the belts, yes they are a bit much, but remember there is such a thing as PERSONAL style. No one can dress to please others at all times, therefore you must dress to make yourself happy, she looks happy and frankly, most of the time the belts work. Let it go.

In case you haven't noticed, this is the section where people can express their opinion on style....in this case, Michelle's. If other's opinions differ from your's, so what? It doesn't make you right or them wrong.

There's really no need for you to label those who think differently from you as "complaining". From what I see, you prefer to complain about people "complaining". Why don't you take your own advice and just let it go instead of preaching at others here.

Her hair style is classic and is suitable anytime but she is over doing the belts. The outfit is fine but belt just totally ruins it. It is getting so all you do is look to see what belt she is wearing and the rest doesn't matter.

OMG! DITCH THE BELT NOW!! She could use some free style tips from Sarah Palin, now that is a lady who sure knows how to dress. Did i also mention that she is one hot hocky mom.

How do you know that Palin doesn't have a stylist? She certainly had a stylist team who dressed her on the campaign trail. Why shouldn't we believe that she still has someone styling her as it's a very common practice for those in the public spotlight?

Yes, she's hot but looks only get you so far (as she discovered in 2008).

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:12 AM on 11/17/2009

For the amount of money she had to spend (before the 2008 election), she dressed very well. It was said by a few people that she bought much of her clothing from a consignment shop. If that's true, I think that is cool. I hope she never finds out that is a sustainable approach to dressing because she'd stop it in a heartbeat.

But I don't think SP would be a good stylist for our First Lady. SP goes for the classic look with one item in the outfit being sexy (i.e., the red patent 3" pumps). That's not our First Lady's approach.

Seriously, Ms. Palin left to her own devices looks a Hot mess. She did look good on the when she was running for VP because someone told her what to wear, on her own, not so much. I think that there is a different fashion aesthetic for middle and southern America and place like NY, CA, DC, etc. There's nothing wrong with it, but in some places people are more comfortable with looking different and standing out, so the outfits can be over the top. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Mrs. Obama should, lose the belts and the hairstyle. Both detract from her good looks.

Agree. I'm so over her belts (which really doesn't work for this outfit at all). I'm also not liking the argyle pattern being on the skirt too (It's too much, too busy.....especially the gold).

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:16 AM on 11/17/2009

I think it's too busy, too, but it doesn't appear that she understands the concept of "less is more, " or understands it but doesn't follow it.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:28 PM on 11/17/2009

I'm sure she will hear and heed your advice. No doubt what you think she should do trumps her own ideas of dressing comfortably and individual personal style. I predict that because of your fashion dictates to her, we will never see her belted in the style section ever again because the alternative will be you reposting your sage comments over and over again.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:51 AM on 11/17/2009

dct is a pretty strong obama supporter, i believe on past comments. you shouldnt judge his/her posts as anything other than his/her honest opinion. everyone has a right to thier opinion.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:09 AM on 11/17/2009

Whether she will take others' advice is immaterial to a poster posting a opinion on the way she dresses.

Reply    Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:33 PM on 11/17/2009

agree dct. thank you for being an obama supporter who can admit when something isnt perfect. it strengthens your statements when you support her politics and agenda.

to me, when someone blindly follows someone and cannot admit ANY flaw, why listen? they are just a cult member.

so, thank you, for not liking mo's belts.

Everyone is concerned with her belts when they should be concerned about her emotional state. I read that MO is quite depressed and has even been heard chewing out her staff recently. When was the last time you actually saw her smiling and happy?

Do you have a source for that? HP ran a story about her being ill as the reason she didn't go to Asia with our President. Were you thinking of that article and got confused?
