What's Your Reaction?
Obama

The New York Times:

President Obama came into office pledging to end eight years of American inaction on climate change under President George W. Bush, and all year he has promised that the United States would lead the way toward a global agreement in Copenhagen next month to address the warming planet.

But this weekend in Singapore, Mr. Obama was forced to acknowledge that a comprehensive climate deal was beyond reach this year. Instead, he and other world leaders agreed that they would work toward a more modest interim agreement with a promise to renew work toward a binding treaty next year.

apparently the Hadley Climate Research site ( the ‘inventors’ of the hockey stick temperature graph) was hacked into and a bunch of very damning emails were found. Bottom line, those “scientists” were manipulating the data. I hope it gets legs and maybe even (dream upon a star) criminal charges against some of the prominent AGW proponents.

This site usually doesn't post rumors, i.e. Winner of the 2008 Best Science Blog Award. If true, major waves ahead...

Right now, I am more concerned with the financial demise of our country because of the corruption in our government. Climate change means nothing to me until we clean up the corruption and get these SOB's out of our government.

It's not that addressing climate change isn't important, but if Obama cannot learn to prioritize, there may not be much left of America to change the climate.

What in the world is he fooling around with climate change for when our soldiers are sitting in harm's way in Afghanistan waiting for him to make a decision on Afghanistan, a decision that should have been made BEFORE HE SENT MORE TROOPS THERE TO BEGIN WITH!

Our troops coming home is #1, unemployment and the economy is #2.

I am absolutely amazed at the complete lack of leadership of Obama.

Yes, he is definitely lacking in time management and prioritization skills. I guess that comes with experience, which is something else that he lacks.

You are so right MorgaineChya! Shame on Obama for not fixing every single problem America faces within 24 hours of his Presidency!

You do realize that the dwindling US manufacturing base contributes less and less to global warming every year, don't you. Aim your angst at China, and India, for starters. As for myself, we are 25 degrees Celsius above normal today with a light south breeze. The sun is warm and I see no hurry to bring wind and snow.

GOVERNMENT FIDDLES WHILE THE PLANET WARMS!

The clash of interest groups in the Congress inevitably slows action on climate change to a crawl.

Look instead at the potential to dramatically reduce the need for imported oil. That is a subject on which most Americans agree.

Little known, revolutionary, breakthroughs in energy hold the potential to provide electric cars with replacements for batteries that never need recharge.

A parallel development has the potential to provide hybrid cars and trucks that only need a small amount of ordinary water as fuel.

Energy from Collapsing Hydrogen Orbits - ECHO, has some similarity to a system that has been the subject of experiments at Rowan University. Excess heat was produced which has no other explanation than a new source of energy. While hard to believe, those experiments can be reproduced by other laboratories.

They indicate a gallon of water can replace 200 gallons of oil.

Future vehicles using either of these radically new systems can eventually become power plants when parked, selling electricity to the local utility. Such vehicles may be able to pay for themselves.

They will reduce the need for imported oil and serve to hold the price of gasoline down at the pump once such vehicles are in production.

The Global Warming religion is mostly about bilking American taxpayers, and further commandeering large sectors of our economy toward the hands of the powerful environmental lobbies (in which people like pelosi, gore and reid are heavily financially invested).

Mostly Gore and his acolytes have done Mother Earth a disservice. They have taken the focus off of what each person could be doing in the way of conservation and cleaning up. Instead, plastic and medical waste from california beaches is swirling around in the pacific ocean because they're apparently too busy at green rallies to go pick up. Pity- they could drive their prius on over to so many places where they'd make a real difference.

In my view, it's immoral to put fuel in your car that could have been food, or that used water and soil that could have been food. Better to suck ancient slime out of the earth and use that.

Wait til you green -niks get a load of a wind farm or a solar grid and the power structures necessary to transport energy from them You won't want any of it in your back yard. You'll think a little ol' pump jack is very non-obtrusive. The cattle and moose don't mind them at all.

I'm sure China and India and Russia would love for us to be "leaders" in this movement, and are quite happy we appear to have a tool in charge who's stupid enough to lead the way.

Global warming is not a religion. It is a well established scientific fact. The rest of your post consists of Ad Hominem attacks that contribute nothing to the discussion.

You should look up the definition of ad hominem attack.

I said that Global Warming is a fact--it happens in cycles and has done throughout the earth's history.
What's not a fact: that your tax money will stop it, and whether your suv caused it.

PS: We're in a cooling cycle now.

Say a lie long enough and people will begin to believe it as scientific fact. Im sure thats why they changed the wording to climate change. They need to change the headline in this story too.

That's what they do. Cobble progress. It's time for the 'dinosores' to be sent into extinction.

New people, new ideas.

"If the U.S. passed a cap and trade and other countries did not, it wouldn't work. It would ruin the U.S. economy and it wouldn't save the climate either."

Maybe the global community cannot get together on AGW because enough of the global community knows that AGW is a fraud. Or maybe there's no such thing as a global community.

Big oil has a strong hold on tenured Congressman on both sides of the aisle.

Your enemies.

Is global warming important? Duh.

Does the President need to check the proximity of his head and rear-end to think Congress can handle something as monumental as global warming policy when it can't even handle health insurance reform?

Earth to Mr. Obama....

Hobbled? What's new? Congress hobbles everything that goes through them. It's no wonder we never get any meaningful legislation.

Remember what it took to get simple civil rights legislation passed in the 60s? Thank our Senate and our constitution that unleashed this bigoted minority onto the rest of us. We need campaign finance reform and a constitutional revision. I think most Americans are pretty decent people, but most of us have no voice in the Senate and that's where the obstruction gets really serious.

You could just use this headline as a fill in the blank frame: "Obama Being Hobbled by Congress In Fight Against / For _____________".
