Jackie O. Nude Photos: Paparrazzo Reveals How He Snapped Infamous Pictures

Settimio Garritano stunned the public with his images of Jackie O. sunbathing nude on Skorpios island in 1971, and as the photographer has now put his work up for sale, he's revealed how he stumbled upon the picture worth a thousand words.

Garritano told the Telegraph UK he made friends with a local and then posed as a gardener to gain access to the private paradise owned by Aristotle Onassis:

After hearing a rumour that Mrs Onassis sunbathed nude on one of the beaches, he took a boat out and moored it near some undergrowth where he was able to remain hidden.

"It didn't seem possible. She knew she'd been photographed before on Skorpios so why would she display herself? Then suddenly she appeared and wandered around the patio area. I concentrated on just taking the pictures, not composing them. It was a matter of moments, not even minutes," he said.

Most editors refused to publish the photographs, however they did appear in a 1972 edition of Italy's Playmen and in Hustler in 1975.
