Anaheim Ducks, Venue Give Free Thanksgiving Dinner To 20,000

The We Give Thanks foundation has given out free Thanksgiving meals to families for over two decades. The Orange County, CA-based nonprofit has teamed up with the Anaheim Ducks and Honda Center to open the venue to 20,000 of the area's underprivileged this Thanksgiving, where they'll be given a free turkey lunch.

Some of the struggling NHL team's players will even be on hand to serve some of the meals, provided by La Casa Garcia Restaurant.

Smart & Final has also partnered with the team, offering two tickets to a Ducks game to those who purchase a turkey for the We Give Thanks project.

The Ducks aren't the only NHL team planning community service initiatives for the fall and winter holidays. A quick run down of some other projects:

•The Pittsburgh Penguins are encouraging donations at consecutive home games in December for the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program.
•The Philadelphia Flyers are accepting Treats For Troops, gift packages for overseas soldiers that can be dropped off at the Wachovia Center before select games.
• Tonight, the Minnesota Wild are sponsoring a food drive to support Second Harvest Heartland. Their goal is 500 pounds of food.
