"Going Rogue" Goes Rogue: Sarah Palin's Book Shoots Rachel Maddow, FBI Agents In "Late Night" Sketch (VIDEO)

First Posted: 3/18/10 Updated: 5/25/11

Sarah Palin's book "Going Rogue" was everywhere--every media outlet in the States has done at least a dozen pieces about it. Well now it's nowhere to be found: "Going Rogue" has gone rogue. It picked up a gun, snuck off the set of "Late Night," evaded FBI capture, shot Rachel Maddow and went to meet up with its lover.

This was all part of a sketch last night on Jimmy Fallon's show that was equal parts crazypants and hilarious. They used every fugitive-on-the-run cliche to give the book a life of its own. The only part we found unrealistic was that "Going Rogue" shacked up with "New Moon." We're pretty sure a fantasy book about vampires is too godless for that to be accurate. More likely it would have hopped in bed with Norman Podhoretz's "Why We Were in Vietnam" or Irving Kristol's "Two Cheers for Capitalism."

Although I thought the video was quite funny overall, I shuddered a bit at the Maddow "shooting" because it gave me an unpleasant reminder of the Harvey Milk assassination, which also took place in his office.

I found that a little disturbing also. I would hate to see anything happen to her. She is great... I couldn't imagine a left wing person doing anything crazy to any of the right wing personalities but I am not so sure about the right wing folks after Dr. Tiller and the census worker...

He should do one of Joe Lieberman hiding from Rachel because she -- and this is a direct quote -- "has a point of view," LOL!

This former Vice Presidential contender can't handle a journalist??? Maybe everyone's been too hard on poor Sarah...LOL!!

Rachel rocks!!!

DO THE RIGHT THING, JOE!!

How did Fallon get Sean Hannity to do that skit?

You people love to hate Palin first and ask questions later. So many of you have dedicated unhealthy amounts of your life to the existential crisis that Palin and her book present to all humankind. To hear and read your neurotic rants about her, you'd think an Islamic blitz was about to begin. The bile she extracts from you anxiety addled critics illuminates deep pockets of asininity. It is as if you are pissed to the point of losing sleep that she dare draw breath at all. Your undying devotion to tearing her apart everyday in HuffPost would be energy better spent on Obama's public policy postions. Sadly for you, it is no fun if you can't hate. And you sure do that well. At least you got that going for you.

You are are SO right !, Javadrinker : It was MAGNIFICENTLY said by Venividiveci ! : )

I have a hard time taking anything you say seriously. is your screen name a play on words? Did you knowingly spell it wrong? It has the same effect as any other bad grammar. Do you fancy yourself an intellectual? And, if so, isn't it difficult to defend Sarah Palin's own intellectual capacity? And what do any of these comments have to do with an Islamic blitz? The Fallon piece was genuinely funny at best, sophomoric at worst. Certainly not a hateful rant, more like a jibe. And didn't someone say that any publicity was good publicity? The woman is selling books, even if they are deeply discounted. So, what's your problem?
10:28 PM on 11/21/2009
No, Raclev : When ANY even REMOTELY objective person [regardless of political beliefs, etc.] examines Venividiveci's post, and compares it to your unspeakably petty, simply LAUGHABLY totally non-substantive reply to it, which amounted to nothing more than "elitist grasping at straws, ON STEROIDS !", they can come to but one conclusion : "What's YOUR problem ? ! ! !", Raclef ? !

Even though in the form of a question, that' "What's YOUR problem ? ! ! !" is actually a rhetorical question that in fact "contains it's own answer", and THAT answer, Raclef, is that YOU YOURSELF are a perfect example of just what "Veni..." is talking about : a case study of [one particular strain of] "Palin Derangement Syndrome".

Let me deconstruct your reply post by looking at # of points you made [read "tried to make"], in no particular order.

All your points [the ones I'll mention, or any I won't mention you may wish to discuss] are either : 1.] Vapid, snotty, and meaningless ; or 2.] Downright incorrect.

Listen dahlings, who gives a fig about Sarah Palin, she is so yesterday. It is the butch husband, what is his name, that i am interested in. You know that hunk who thinks Alaska should drop out of the Union. Speaking of unions I can imagine that moose hunting bear chasing hunkie is a union suit. While Sarah is out signing her book for the faithful followers I think I could sneak a peak at the hot daddy. So who cares because she's not at home and Tierra has a few ice melting moves that could turn Mr. Alaska hottie Palin into a shake and bake. Now what's his name anyway.

Bow wow.

It's quite clear, Tierra "dahling", that gay marriage amendments have no trouble whatsoever losing at the polls, when they're brought up in various states for public vote.

It happens every time.

So while I don't think posts like this "thoroughly self-embarrassing" one you've posted, about Sarah Palin's husband, are in even the slightest way necessary, for gay marriage amendment referendums to CONTINUE to be defeated, absolutely EVERY time they ever come up for public vote, "they certainly will continue adding fuel to that particular fire".

Too funny. Not a terribly flattering picture of Palin either. That last 40 seconds is priceless.

I keep hoping Palin jumps the shark like Carrie Prejean did on Larry King. That was priceless too.

Enough of Palin, her ilk (not elk), & racism masquerading as legitimate "Tea Party" political dissent!! On JAN. 15th 2010 - AMERICANS WILL MARCH ON WASH DC IN NUMBERS HERETOFORE UNSEEN TO DEMONSTRATE OUR SUPPORT FOR THE FUNDAMENTAL CHANGES WE STILL BELIEVE IN AND WANT TO SEE OUR POTUS & REPS FIGHT FOR. In today's political environment, perception and image (TV to be precise) are everything. We need to show our numbers, our vigor, and our commitment to REAL, SUBSTANTIVE, AND FUNDAMENTAL (not incremental) CHANGE in a way that will capture the national media's attention and call attention to our discontent. TheTeaParty movement has created the misperception that "Millions" of Americans are fed up with Gov't (specifically Obama). THE REALITY, however, is that many more of us voted for our President b/c we hoped for more from our government. More compassion, more diplomacy, more honesty, more protection, and more equality. ON JANUARY 15, 2010, THE 1st ANNIVERSARY OF POTUS OBAMA'S INAUGURATION, AMERICANS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY WILL DESCEND ON WASH DC IN THE STRONGEST SHOW OF SUPPORT EVER FOR A SITTING POTUS & THE POLICIES WE SENT HIM TO FIGHT FOR. SPREAD THE WORD!!!

Jan. 20th is the day that all Presidents have been sworn into office. The idea of a march on Washington is great - just don't get there 1 week early.

I know but the 20th is a Wednesday and if ppl have to travel from out of town, they'd only have to miss 1 day of work instead of 2 or more - because the 15th is a Friday.

"In today's political environment, perception and image (TV to be precise) are everything." No....to some of us, reality is everything. Some of us work for a living (as opposed to those who vote for a living). Just about everything Obama has come up stinks like crap. He talks a good game but his proposals are all BS (if you're a taxpayer). Obama better jettison the likes of Pelosi, Reid and Holder (and the list goes on) or he will likely go down as the most ineffective president in history and, likely, despite all the adoration from sycophants like you, as the dumbest.

I gave him a chance but I'm not listening to this guy anymore.

Rightwingers sometimes like to ask, "Why are you so afraid of Palin?"

I'm not exactly afraid of her, but she definitely makes me uneasy, because millions of Americans think she is qualified to be president, someone who is capable of uttering im.be.cilic things like this:

"They're our next-door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska." (When asked for her experience and qualifications in foreign policy).

"All of 'em, any of 'em that have been in front of me over all these years." (When asked which newspapers she reads. Unable to name a single one).

Couple this with another quote (from H.L. Mencken: "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public", and you have the reason for my unease with this obviously intellectually challenged woman).

Elect an intelligent, well-read conservative (say a Goldwater or an Eisenhower)? I won't like it, but I can deal with it. But these people, G.W. Bush and Palin, ignorant and proud of it???

The actual quote is:

H. L. Mencken said it best: "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public. "
