Dana Perino Nominated By Obama To Broadcasting Board Of Governors

Dana Perino

President Obama has nominated Dana Perino, George W. Bush's last press secretary and a frequent critic of the new administration, to a board overseeing government-sponsored international broadcasting.

Dana Perino was appointed late Wednesday to the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG).

"I'm honored by the president's announcement and I'm looking forward to serving on the bipartisan board, if I'm confirmed," Perino said.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) reportedly urged the Obama administration to appoint Perino.

By law, no more than four of the eight members of the board appointed by the president can be of the president's political party.

Since leaving office, Perino has attacked the Obama administration for calling out Fox News and for its handling of the swine flu epidemic, among other things. But she also called Obama a "phenomenal candidate".

Can someone in the Obama Administration explain to the American people why someone with Dana Perino's incredibly partisan world view, a world view that is willing to say that 9/11 did not even happen when it did happen, so that her boss can, say what be as ignorant as she is? What is to be gained by someone in this position who does not even know how to use a calendar?

If this is that "reaching across the aisle" we do not need it. This reminds one of the flat earth "controversy". While there are still many who believe, even with all their heart, some even with all their mind, that the earth is flat, it has NEVER EVER been flat! Yes, it true, the earth is not FLAT SARAH!!!
Most people have known this for tens of thousands of years. Even early Christians knew this was a fact until they decided to pretend to by ignorant!

Even then the earth did not become flat! And when the pope said it was flat, it still was NOT flat!

While there are many true believers, those who claim to have special attachment to God, I have not been able to figure out what the difference is.

Can anyone out there me what is the difference between a "True" believer like a Mohamed Atta or a Sarah Palin? One believes and the other pretends?

My support for President Obama is waning rapidly. Not so much that he would appoint someone who happily goes on the air to major media outlets to spin and criticize, but because I feel we are starting to see George W. Bush lite. I am the part of the base that helped elect President Obama and I absolutely do not see a president with any type of convictions of anything whatsoever. Governing down the middle and by committee doesn't work.

As much as loathe Dick Morris, he did say one thing right and that was President Obama will be a highly ineffective president because he is not willing to cut anyone off at the knees. I think these type of appointments prove that.

This reminds of why I get annoyed with liberal bloggers. Half the time I think they're looking for reasons to badmouth the administration.

There are plenty of reasons to be disgruntled with the President, but this? "Oh no, Dana Perino got appointed to a commission with no power that nobody's ever heard of in a seat that by law has to be occupied by a Republican. He's just like Bush!"
04:56 AM on 11/26/2009
And she's on the losing side of every party-line vote, since the board of governors has 4 Democrats, 4 Republicans, and the Secretary of State (as a voting member).
11:29 PM on 11/25/2009
If only 4 members of the 8 member panel can be of the same party, Perino is as good as anybody. Name ONE (1) Republican who should assume that position and will be fair. That's right, there isn't ONE. At least Perino is pretty harmless, a little ditzy, and nobody pays any attention to her in the first place.

I'd prefer her to one of those loud mouth, bomb thrower Republican women like Anne Coulter, Michelle Malkin or Michelle Bachman. Perino will sit there, like in her other positions, and melt into the background. She's the kind of Republican I like--irrelevant.

Actually, it's a 9-member panel. It includes the Secretary of State plus the other 8.

For the appointment Dana will continue to insist the Nobel Peace Prize has lost it's importance in recent years because of the quality of people they recently nominated.
Right wingers will lie lie lie and lie to make their lemmings feel better about every President Obama success.

What? Not a tax cheat or union lobbyists or racists? Or Wall Street ties? Not a supporter and believer of Mao, Stalin, or Castro?
Shocking. I thought those were the qualifications to be in the administration.

She has that "liar" qualification.
11:22 PM on 11/25/2009
Reviewing that list, I'd say if those are the qualifications, Perino should fit right in.

I don't get it.

I wonder who picks these people or whom he approves. Obama doesn't have time to look in the basket to find people, so who is it. His chief advisor, chief of staff, librarian, janitor? Somebody tells Obama who looks good for the job. And I still try to believe that he has a purpose...but that light is dimming.

The President said he would reach across Party lines. The Rethugs say they want bipartisanship, but only if well......who knows only if what! It's all about "NO" with them.

Its really interesting reading some of these knee-jerk posts. Gut reactions ... we sure need more of that, NOT! Maybe when you're president someday of what was once the greatest country on earth, trying to keep it all together in the face of the unimaginable (and unknowable to you now) to rebuild after undeniable years of neglect and abuse ON EVERY LEVEL, crazy mofos everywhere threatening your life, fueled by even crazier and irresponsible "leaders", when any of you find yourselves there, then maybe you would have a valid and informed point. No one here knows why the president made this choice but I sense it has something to do with picking his battles.

Neither candidate Obama nor President Obama has ever presented himself as a progressive. Ppl see what they want to see. The president has always been moderate and never said anything different.

actually he hasn't said anything..but he campaigned as a democrat and a progressive. He is trying his damndest to get some of the republithugs on his side. Perino will take the job, but don't count on her for any intelligent life. Obama has to include all types doesn't he? He is president of us all. He is doing a good job of not being a supporter of his base. Couldn't say that much about the bush boy.

Taken with other indicators, what does this say about core Obama?

PNHP (the good guy/gals) OUT-- group--not even invited into democratic discussion.
This video explains it quite well:
http://www.commondreams.org/video/2009/10/07-0

Rethugs, Wall St. thugs, Big Pharma exec,AMA, insurance cartel--all welcome in the WH are IN-group.

How about those from the Sierra Club, Greenpeace? Anyone see them floating around the WH?

It looks to me as the powerful get the offers, jobs, seats at the table in this Administration that was supposed to be about "changing the way business is done in Washington."
For the elite, the door is open, but for doctors who care about human life, liberty, fairness and place people before PROFITS, they can get lost.
Change? Not so much......................

This pretty much sums it up. Politics and politicians will always be what they are. So no one in the whole political arena is qualifiied to do this job? Every politician that we vote for is just the best of the worse. That just how it is.
