NEWARK, N.J. — A New Jersey airport security guard overheard talking about shooting President Barack Obama will be released from jail.

John Brek appeared in state Superior Court in Newark Thursday, where he was sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to a disorderly persons offense.

The Linden resident originally faced a felony charge of making terroristic threats. However, Brek pleaded guilty last Friday to the reduced charge of harassment.

The charge carries a 30-day jail sentence. Brek has been held about that long since his arrest last month.

Two Continental Airlines employees reported hearing the 55-year-old talking about how someone could shoot the president through a hole in a fence at Newark Liberty International Airport, the day before the president traveled to New Jersey.
