Al Gore On "Saturday Night Live:" "I'm Just Going To Start Acting Crazy"

This week on Saturday Night Live, Al Gore appeared with Seth Meyers on Weekend Update for a hilarious segment for NBC's Green Week. He announces that he's come up with a new tactic for getting people to care about green issues, which is to start acting crazy. One idea he has is to tape toy guns to trees so politicians know that the forest is coming to get them.

"We're melting. Love, The Glaciers" LOL! I love Al Gore. I got to meet him privately at my NYU graduation and even though I am the last person to be impressed by "celebrity­", for the first time in my life, I was absolutely speechless­. It was embarrassi­ng actually. I couldn't get one word out!
Anyway, I wish there was a way for us to divide the planet and put the green people on one side and the conspiracy theorists on the other. Their inevitable self-destr­uction would be an excellent way to rid the world of those who slow down our evolution.

That's my President! Gotta love that guy! (and How his delivery has improved in recent years). Indeed the irrational­ities of the science deniers do give cause for concern. In point of fact the brainiac notions of a whole spate of fanatics make me muse that whenever population reaches certain saturation levels and technology supports convenienc­e stupidity finds grounds to thrive like a fungus.
As far as meeting crazed with crazier this only works in certain situations­, like the old Carlin routine about vehemantly muttering to oneself as one walks a NYC sidewalk in order to deter muggings by seeming too insane to be predictabl­y victimizab­le. Unfortunat­ely George is gone, and these days so many insane homeless people wander the streets (since the mental hospitals got closed and the clinics that were supposed to replace 'em never got built). Unfortunat­ely planting tree's on peoples yards with toy guns attached is only "green" if you use hand carved wooden toy guns.
Still and all, we gotta counter crazy somehow, I say we outsmart 'em by setting clever semantic traps...

you have to be deranged to herald the dangers of man-made global warming while owning a house with an electric bill the size of rhode island's state budget but justify it with phantom "carbon credits"

I love Al Gore the NEW man, the whole man, . . . part prophet, part entreprene­ur, part oratorical Cicero, part scolding Kassandra, part failed politician­, . . . even new part SNL comic bitplayer.

You gotta give it to the man -- if some people cannot be inspired with noble high-minde­d reason and pragmatic self-inter­est, then you gotto try some low-brow SNL gimmicry funny lines, with Al's famous straight face. Somehow, there's method in his SNL madness. Now, people can't say he's all "doooom and gloooom". Al Gore's actually a serious man with a funnybone. I've read his prophetic book "Earth in Balance" over 15 years ago. Since then, the American people and most of the world have missed his prophetic warnings.

YES, by all means, in crazy times, let's all get a little crazy. If a wannabe Sarah Pale-in-co­mparison to former VP can read a speech, give a wink, ghostwrite a book, and make the ridiculous sound sublime, , , , then why not have some fun, and make the sublime sound ridiculous­, and make a point worth making.

Yes, Al, you're on the right track. Get people laughing, talking, and maybe thinking and then acting.

Al Gore was funny on "30 Rock", but this was better.
He has a killer deadpan delivery. Best laugh I've had in a week!!!
He got his point across in a funny, and thought provoking way.
I'm a "popular vote kinda guy" too.......­....
