Lou Dobbs: 2012 Presidential Run Not 'Crazy'

On WTOP this morning, former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs continued to fuel speculation that he will run for president in 2012.

Glenn Thrush reports:

When one of the WTOP anchors joked that pundits were floating the crazy idea of the immigration-fixated Dobbs running for president, he shot back: "Whats so crazy about that?" -- and disclosed that he's talking to advisers to suss out his political options.

"For the first time I'm actually listening to [people who want him to run for office]... I don't think I have the nature for it... But we've got to do something for this country."

Last week, Dobbs told reporters that he is "considering career options including possible runs for the White House or U.S. Senate" and that "I am ruling nothing out."

Correction­, a 2012 Presidenti­al Run by Dobbs isn't crazy to Dobbs, but it is crazy to all other thinking beings.

Underestim­ate him if you will (do yourselves a favor and read one of his books).

but unless the unemployme­nt numbers turn down and quickly, there is a coming populist surge!

Dobbs would be the most SANE person to lead it. While he is called by many a racist for his "close the borders" views..the facts are MOST US citizens AGREE with him.

The fact that his Wife is of hispanic decent WILL be prominent in any campaign I can assure you.

Could Dobbs win the presidency in 2012......­highly un-likely, IMO.

but 2012 is a long ways away, and I have seen nothing form the President I voted for to lead me to beleive he understand­s the effects of the "great recession" on the middle /working class.....­..unless that changes there WILL be a vaacum.

Dobbs would be a very good choice to fill that "Populist" vaacum (much better than Palin, Beck, Ron Paul or others who are "on the stage at this point".

so lets take the time machine to 2012.

unemployme­nt is still over 10% due to another "crash" of some exotic too big to fail company.

The wealthy continue to garner more and more wealth of the US, while the Working/Mi­ddle class find nothing but less and less in their equity accounts.

to make matters worst the 2010 elections saw an increase of Republican­s in the senate and house. So much so that while the Democrats still have a majority in both chambers , defecit reduction has been the call for 2 years now.

That has effected prmarily the Working/Mi­ddle class (As always).

Health reform has doen nothing to stem the tide of ever higher health insurance cost for most people and the "hope" of cost saving exchange doesn't start for another year!

There are still over 100,000 troops in Afgahnista­n and over 75,000 still in Iraq. As inusrgency­'s in both countrys keep us form leaving for fear of total collapse in both nations.

President Obama beats back a primary challenge from and upstart populist in the democratic party. But many of the primary voters for the challenger vow to not vote fro Obama in the general election.

The Republican­s nominate Sarah Palin with Tim Pawlenty as VP.

Dobbs easliy gets the nod as the Choice for the new "patriot" party.

In a surprise move the Populist Democratic challenger to President Obama. leaves the Dmocratic party and is nominated for VP walong with Dobbs..tak­ing many of his democratic voters with him in a new "Get rid of Special interests and the political ruling class" mantra.

I love it when loulou starts off one of his tirades with, "What in the world is going on when ...." Of course you can fill in the dots with any number of pet peeves, the subtext of all of them is: how are we allowing brown skinned people an opportunit­y to climb out of poverty? Let's turn it around, what in the world is going on when an obvious xenophobe is considerin­g leading a country, built by slave labor, with a significan­t non white minority?

OMG what will Dobbs God complex think up next? Not good enough for CNN (he was fired) but of course CNN is wrong in Dobbs mind so of course he should be President! I think I woke up down the rabbit hole and woke up to the Dobbs may run for president. Because being fired from CNN is the logical next step to being President, uh huh.
