Tiger Woods BOOED At Stanford (VIDEO)

First Posted: 3/18/10 Updated: 5/25/11

Tiger Woods received an unexpected wave of boos at Stanford on Saturday. Woods, who was an honorary captain at Saturday's Big Game between Stanford and Cal, delivered a quick halftime speech to mark his induction into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame. During the talk, however, a group of Cal fans let loose a series of boos, surprising the golfing great. Things didn't go much better the rest of the game, as Cal upset then-No. 14 Stanford, 34-28.

I am bored all ready with this story ok here is my opinion

this is a personal matter and it doesnt involve the whole world ! He is not a political figure role model or icon . This is just assertions by the media as an excuse to invade his privacy. Unless he committed a criminal offense or murder It is not the business of the public

WOW and maybe this was the start of his controversial ascend? NO?

How about this theory; things got heated in this argument between husband and wife about husband's alleged affair. She breaks something over his noggin that cuts his lips and face. Knowing he has to be in public next week, how is he going to explain away those injuries? Oh, I know, how about stage a car accident where his wife mysteriously has to break open the window with a golf club to "save" him? Pl-ease.

The important thing for now is that he is on a good condtion ... "physcially":

I think he's got a bit of a Steve 'Interesting' Davis vibe going on. Also the recent car crash doesn't provide a lot of favourable comparisons with some people's model of the ideal professional: Ben Hogan.

The audio on this clip is so bad that I still don't know why Tiger got booed.
10:39 PM on 11/25/2009
His daughter doesn't even look like his. She's adorable though. Who can boo Tiger?
06:56 PM on 11/25/2009
Haters....every one of em, plain and simple. The guy is uber successful(the best at what he does actually) and he stays out of trouble. But people still bag on him because they're just a bunch of HATERS! LOL!...Go Tiger!.......seriously though, I'm not even a huge golf fan but I can respect the guy for the way he carries himself.
05:39 PM on 11/26/2009
He was probably booed because he was just caught cheating on his wife. His "jump-offs" pics do make one wonder if he has gone mad.

Hater, as stated previously.

Yo nerds, I know you probably don't watch a lot of sports between your World of Warcraft sessions but the reason he's being booed is because he was at the 112th BIG GAME. As in, CAL VS. STANFORD, arch-rivals. It has nothing to do with Tiger, it's about his allegiance to the school he went to for two years.

I was there. Booing proudly and hating Stanford with my brethren. It was a great game followed by the Cal fans storming the field.

For anyone that needs a history lesson on Cal vs. Stanford, take a break from your Dungeons & Dragons and check this video out of "The Play" in '82. Cal is the reason John Elway didn't get the Heisman that year. It's a beautiful thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfebpLfAt8g

GO BEARS!

Coming from a school that will be 32% more expensive to attend next year! Classy!!

Tiger said nothing about the segregated admission policy at Augusta and said nothing when Golf Channel's Kelly Tillman made the idiot remark about lynching. Tiger is not an alum of Stanford - you have to graduate to be an alum and he barely made it through one year of basket weaving.

Jim Brown called Tiger out on his silence regarding racial matters and Tiger was mum. Brown, who had his own problems, dedicated his life to turning gang members into humans. Tiger buys houses for himself.

Tiger did donate $14 million out of his $119 million income last year to charity - That is his only good deed.

He swings a stick and hits a ball - very well, but that's all you can say about him - he is shallow, spoiled and a poor sport. He is not someone to admire.

His ONLY good deed LOL $14 MILLION to charity ( that YOU know of ) That is more money than you and a Million Like you gave in the last 10 years.

Sorry you have nothing you are good at. That is why you hate on a perfect stranger.

Pitiful

Hmmmm...how much did documented ignoramus Fuzzy Zoeller give to charity...or Freddy Couples?...any ideas? Or how many other golfers have their own educational institution(s)...anyone?

Hopefully he's being booed for being cheap; Tiger Woods does not tip and he leaves his servers a note explaining why. Classless.
10:43 AM on 11/25/2009
Someone told me the same thing about his father years ago. I didn't believe it. Like father like son I guess
12:47 PM on 11/25/2009
"someone told me". that explains a lot. some told me you believe everything you hear.
12:45 PM on 11/25/2009
The same lie was started about Michael Jordan and i know first hand it is not true. Have you been his server??? Tips are earned.
11:27 AM on 11/27/2009
I worked at a restaurant in Miami frequented by Michael Jordan (as well as Oakley, Ewing, Rodman and hosts of others) and while I did not wait on any of them personally, (I was working in the kitchen) I can attest to the fact that Jordan is no cheapskate; he literally tipped his waiters thousands of dollars as well as giving them signed shoes. "No tippin Pippen" could learn a thing or two.

Tiger, on the other hand, came in one night and left his server a note explaining that he doesn't carry cash and that basically because he's Tiger Woods, his ass should be kissed for free. When the server told me that I was shocked, but apparently it's old news to servers in Miami.

No wonder his affair has become public; he's too ignorant to know that if you don't take care of people (limo drivers, waiters, bartenders, doormen, room-service) they will not keep your secrets. The man doesn't even tip the dealers at the tables when he's gambling in Vegas! Classless.

Tiger Woods is a SCAB
This man crossed a Screem Actors Guild picket line to do a Buick commercial a number of years ago. He should never be forgiven. Other than being a filthy scab he is just another jock and of no interest to me.
Pennsylvanianne
There is no sin but ignorance.
09:21 AM on 11/25/2009
He also probably had a contract to do the commercial. Break a contract or cross a picket line? Neither is a good alternative. But Screem Actors Guild? Does it only have members like Jamie Lee Curtis from horror pictures? I think you mean Screen.
Anyway, the CAL fans booed Woods, a Stanford alum, at Stanford, not the Stanford fans. The headline is factual but a little misleading.

Good for him. Unions are destroying our country and have outlived their usefullness.

Right on styrocup!

Unions have a long way to go to outdo the rich who get themselves tax rollbacks only to destroy our financial system.

One of the greatest sportsmen of our times and they boo him? He is a great family man, a great American, and probably the greatest golfer alive today. Stanford is a strange school.

He's also a Stanford alum getting booed by the rival fans. I don't care, Gerald Ford could have addressed the crowd at an OSU, UM game and buckeyes would boo him too. Its college athletics, move along.
04:56 AM on 11/25/2009
How rude. It is such poor form, seriously. I just don't get it. Whether I was a fan or not I could just never see myself booing at someone who had reached the highest echelon of their sporting code. I mean really, would there be one of those "booers" who would ever be able to match the success level of Tiger Woods??
Is it an American thing? Whatever it is it is pretty unattractive.
10:39 AM on 11/25/2009
"American thing?" Apparently you are not European or have never heard of the soccer hooligans? American football fans are tame in comparison to other country's behaviors at soccer events.
12:01 PM on 11/25/2009
One who cannot imagine booing their rival is obviously not a sports fan beyond a superficial level, so it should not surprising that such a person does not understand.

The booing wasn't about Tiger Woods, it was about Stanford.
02:26 AM on 11/25/2009
Something tells me Tiger will somehow manage along (spectacularly, I'm sure), despite being booed by a rowdy bunch of Cal fans.

Tiger Woods is a class act.
05:04 AM on 11/25/2009
But is it true he is has bald patches?
02:04 AM on 11/25/2009
Someone said Tiger is full himself and deserved the b o o?
Thats what makes him better, undivided attention. He is not a rock star and he understands that. Let the golf clubs do the talking. After all I would do the same especially considering that he has re-written the rules of that d a m n e d sport which for decades, treated other human beings like the s c u m of the earth. Go Tiger, do what you want.... that's why you are Tiger! Again there were too many cons in that crowd, lol. Tiger endorsed POTUS
