Obama Oprah

Oprah may not have made it to Tuesday's state dinner, but she will be heading to the White House after all.

The daytime queen will interview the president and first lady for a primetime special called "Christmas at the White House," which will air on ABC on December 13.

The special will include both a solo interview with Obama and a joint interview with the president and first lady, as well as a tour of the White House.

Oprah interviewed Michelle Obama for O Magazine, and she had dinner with Obama in Washington shortly before his inauguration, but this will be her first interview with Obama since he took office.

Excuse me, USAF vet,
I know the military mind-set. Sleeping with your gun. basic training.
Then a war. They drum it in our head, teaching you to be a weapon.
But everyone isn't the enemy. You can't lash out at everyone.

Just the enemy. Everyone isn't the enemy. That's why we have instincts.
Our training taught us combat-period. Staying alive. Not how to think.

Or what to think. Common sense and a rational mind is what's important.

Hey maybe they can discuss this LOCAL story from Chicago.

For those not from the Chicago area you may find this interesting.

Stroger (County Commissioner/black guy) running for re-election against 2 black candidates and a white guy.

Why is race important?

Because a group of local black ministers asked 2 black candidates to step away from the race or else they would split the black vote and the white guy would win.

Imagine the congregation in their churches and what they hear every Sunday!

Go Oprah. Bring up that subject and maybe take a call from Rev Wright while you are at it.

Oprah does it again! This will be a media event for several reasons, least of which is that the nations first African American President sits to chat with the nations first African American woman billionaire media mogul. No, this historical media event will be significant because at this moment in American history, only this woman has traveled a road similar to the Obamas' in terms of world wide recognition, power and influence, and cultural relevance. While I do not expect a deep conversation about race and racially motivated attacks in media, I think (my opinion) this media meeting will be resonate well with most Americans, especially African Americans!

I look forward to see how the holiday special will be "discussed" after its aired.

It is amazing. Not only is Oprah the richest African American EVER but she's the ONLY black woman in world history ever to be a billionaire.

Black. African-American. Holiday (versus Christmas). 3 words referenced.

So typical of the ultra-liberal focus.

The cheapening of the American presidency continues. What's next, a whitehouse reality show.

I was watching a documentary on the History channel last night ( okay, I have to get a life) about the original building and previous residents of the White House. Fascinating stories about how each President lived and left their mark on this beautiful home.

I was mesmerized until they started interviewing the W. Bush's. I had almost forgotten his face, his inability to use the English language. Just deleted it from my memory, that kind of amnesia that helps a trauma victim recover from its wounds.

We finally have elegance and warmth back in the White House. I am not keen on the Oprah goes to Washington scenario, but I have to admit after last night's jolt into the past, that I am grateful that we no longer have to see that Bush smirk and suffer through his incoherence. I will not be watching but I am certain that the Obama's presence will give our country pride.

Who would want to watch a baseball game where it was known ahead of the time the pitcher was throwing all soft lobs for the batters to hit out of the park?

Where was all this biotching when the Conservative Party away the Republican Candidate here in upstate NY 3rd District. What's the difference, by the way, their candidate lost when they pulled that crap. The same thing would have happened it would have split the white vote to have the conservation candidate and the Republican candidiate both running in district 3, what's the FN difference. Hypercrits.

I listen to the Obama-phobic right, with their foolih brand of ha.te and lunacy.
These are people who were silent for 8 years of rule by an incompetent, challenged man.
He watched the country invaded, made stuff up, and started a winless, costly war in wrong place.

Nice job on katrina, too. His administration then proceeded to flush the U.S. down the s#it-hole.
But Obama is a danger? Hmmm......why on Earth would they say that.? Who would'a thought?

We have a intelligent, cerebral president. I think the world of Barack Obama. "Stupidity" is gone.
He can't fix the damage done by G.W. overnight, or even in 1 term. How quick they forget.

So all you hat.eful, critical people wearing hats with hanging tea-bags, spreading all this BS-
Do me a favor......take a look in the mirror at yourselves, that hat, and any other "hats" you put on.

Truly ridiculous, and an embarrassment to all sensible. Keep supporting Palin. "nice gams, right".

AS for Oprah....sorry. Self made image, ratings genius. billionaire. Yes. Brilliant woman. C'mon.

She let Palin, a narcissistic media hound, skate away in an interview. Palin, Oprah=no substance.
She even endorsed Palin's "work of fiction" after the interview. Oprah-leave now, not in "two years".

Hate to burst your bubble, but Obama is not all that you and the left make him out to be. I'll even throw a larger curve ball. I don't believe that Obama had much of a hand in writing his first book. The man is more myth than fact.

You are sort of correct. He is in some ways exactly what he was made out to be. A big spender. A community organizor with no experience. And someone who does not grasp taxpayer and working people's needs. And who surrounds himself with people that are degreed from Ivy League schools, but haven't a clue about the average American citizen.

Hate to break to you by Oprah's light years more intelligent than the president & two economists at the University of Maryland proved he would have lost the Democratic nomination by a million votes without her support. Take away his teleprompter & the president speaks in eloquent general terms but with no specifics or substance to back it up & has thus far into his presidency demonstrated only mediocre problem solving abilities & appears in over his head. And of course Oprah's going to nice to Palin. Palin gave Oprah her highest ratings in years, gushed over her & called her the Queen & even gave Oprah a chance to win back some of the conservatives viewers she lost by electing the teleprompter.

How so...did they scan the minds of Obama voters for the dark truth?

Economists no less. Maybe Bush should have "consulted" them, before his decisions.

USAFVET76 - give the guy a chance. He has been in office for only 11 months. Our country is experiencing the biggest crisis in over 60 years. Barack has to clean up the mess Jr. Bush left behind; it will not be quick and it will be messy. However, you need to realize that our Congress has over 100 bills that they can't get passed because the Repugs are using their obstruction tactics. Think about it. claudiatucsonaz

If she doesn't it's only because she's rumored to be extremely jealous that the president looks up to Oprah & looks to Oprah (not the first lady) for guidance on important matters, jumps when Oprah calles & values Oprah's opinion more than the first lady's.

I'm looking forward to watching it. The fact that people are actually complaining that Obama is granting interviews and making himself accessible seem to forget that that's actually a critical, core, element of the Presidency.

Also, the fact that people are attempting to attribute Obama's win solely to Oprah is hilariously ludicrous. He won the Presidency because of a brilliant campaign strategy, inherent rhetorical ability, appealing ideas, and a profound desire for serious change in America. Oprah played a part, as did every endorser. But to claim that she 'bought' him the White House, or that she is somehow the mastermind behind his ascent is pretty silly.

Oprah was the FIRST & most influential high profile endorsement he ever got. She was the visionary who pressured him to run in the first place on her show & Larry King's show way back in 2006 when she was endorsing his book. In additional to all the momentum, visibility & viability she gave him, two economists at the University of Maryland calculated that she was DIRECTLY responsible for ONE MILLION VOTES in the razor close Democratic primary:

And we're all going to pay huge for this mistake of a President. Thanks Oprah and the others that thought he was really going to change things.

To date I can name 2 things he's positively done or planning to do that will benefit Americans and especially taxpayers. Two. That's it.

Reagen was movie star turned President.
Obama is a community organizor, playing like a President, that wants to be a movie star.

Where's the change? Oh, the change is he talks to Oprah, Larry, David "the family values guru" Letterman, etc.

Myself, not being one of these what i call "alien visitors",
I love the idea of an intelligent, cerebral President like Obama.]

I sometimes think he should be more forceful; that said, i love the guy.
Now Oprah, I have problems with over the years. She IS rich and powerful.
But you only need so much money. Too much, you're out of touch.

I don't see what she became rich and powerful for. Nothing she excels at, otherwise.
Letting Palin skate on her show, then endorsing this woman's book? C'mon.

Oprah, IMHO, is much ado about nothing. Simplest way to put it. That's just me.

Oprah excels at everything. She's a marketing genius, a brilliant improvisational entertainer who has totally dominated the hyper-competetive field of TV talk shows for a quarter century, a supremely clever business woman & a gifted Oscar nominated actress who was the best thing in "The Color Purple". And after gushing over the president for the past 3 years, she had to be nice to Palin. Given her friendship with the president, had she been tough it would have looked like a set-up master-minded by the white house. And you can never have too much money especially when you're as philanthropic as Oprah.
