I've been making my way through Thomas Lynch's "The Undertaking". That man is a master wordsmith - what could be one long, depressing dirge is, instead, inspiring, insightful, and eloquent. I highly recommend it.

Was looking forward to reading "The Boy Who Harnassed the Wind". I really like Barbara Kingsolver. I will read the book to find out why it rated so low.

DOG ON IT by Spencer Quinn

Best book ever - easy reading, clever writing, laugh out loud adventure. If you like dogs this is tops.

OK - maybe not the best book ever written in the world - but I have to say as an avid reader of all sorts of books - this one stays consistantly on the top of my list - maybe because it is really a fun fun book, and there isn't a lot of fun going on right now.

Not wanting to challenge anyone else's favorites - just offer a good light hearted fun book - if you like dogs that is.

Thanks for your input.

This looks like a great read as well as bright sided. There is new light in all of these positive, uplifting books in times of turmoil, that I find fascinatingly helpful.

In that vein, an excellent and uplifting read is Rob Brezsny's "Pronoia: How the World in Conspiring to Shower You With Blessings". It's a treasured favorite when I need a pick-me-up.
