Gold Coin Worth $1,000 Dropped In Salvation Army Kettle

A Salvation Army kettle outside of a Kmart in York, Pennsylvania, earned an unexpected bounty last week as the donation bin was found to contain a South African gold krugerrand worth $1,200. The coin was found wrapped in a $1 bill.

From WGAL in Pennsylvania:

"As soon as the staff person saw it in the kettle, they called me and called George. They were so excited. They wanted us to come down and see it," Major Lurlene Mudge, of York's Salvation Army.
