First, it was the $150,000 wardrobe during the 2008 presidential campaign, now it's the high-priced book tour. ABC News reports that Sarah Palin is being toted around the country not by bus, but by a Gulfstream 2 private jet. Reported cost: $4000 per hour.

Good for Sarah! If her publisher is willing to pay for her to fly around, she must be making them a lot of money! She is a private citizen and the jet was funded by a private company. Since when to we get down on someone for being successful. That used to be something to strive for in this country. Meanwhile Nancy Pelosi uses government private jets as her personal airline, paid for by you and I and diverting our millitary resources. That is a joke, especially when Nancy has the money to pay for her own travel.

Yup she's just a plain girl from Alllaaaska who doesn't do drama. Also too she's a Christian with a witch doctor on the side. So bizzare - so laughable. Yup and parts of her house DO look a lot like the hockey rink. Now how do you suppose that happened. Wonder who is providing the jet!

Palin was NOT a Hockey Mom, she had a child who played hockey... not the same thing at all. This is an example of the fundamentalist belief that if give the same lie often enough, it becomes true.

Just as the bus tour is meant to give the IMPRESSION she's travelling on the cheap, but isn't.

Someone at the publishers knows the book has no long-term appeal, and they're pushing to sell as many as possible as quickly as possible, because it will have no "word on mouth" appeal (in contrast to, say, the President's _Dreams of My Father_ which is a great book and would be a great book even if the author was never famous).

She could see the hockey rink from her back yard and as far as she's concerned it's the same thing. BTW, the windows, some exterior architectural elements as well as some of the interior trimmings of her house look exactly like the materials used to build the hockey rink, so that might have something to do with her confusion.

Why should this bother anyone, it's not on our dime. Now when someone like the first wookie flies on our money that pisses me off, does she need two planes for all 22 of her hand maidens?

It goes to that whole proletarian "authenticity" balderdash the gops foisted upon us for the past decade. It's kinda hypocritical to accuse your opposite number of elitism when you're traipsing around living the very same high life you're condemning.

Cokie Roberts said Palin "...is genuinely a hockey mom...but gets caught up in something a little more glamorous".

But Palin's NOT "genuinely a hockey mom". Her son played hockey as a kid and in high school, but in his senior year he was playing in Michigan. Palin was in politics most of the time he was playing hockey, even when he was a kid -- so she wasn't a hockey mom, she was a politician skipping her official duties whenever she showed up to watch him play, and certainly not while he was in Michigan.

And Cokie Roberts is referring to travel by $4,000/hour private jet "something a little more glamorous"? OK, Cokie Roberts herself is used to politics and privilege, being a Wellesley graduate and being the daughter of two long time Congressional representatives, so I can see why she's dismissing such exorbitant expenses as that with a figurative wave of the hand.

Way to downplay Palin's attempt at ladder climbing, Cokie.
